The law requires schools to base their teaching on a certain set of beliefs, specifically "the Bolivarian Doctrine", which refers to the ideals of 19th Century independence hero Simon Bolivar. This article reminds us that some governments, not only in Latin America, still can force people to believe in certain ideas and educate them.
