I've been talking to lots of people about Twitter. Why is it so addictive? Why do new tools, shipped for it, like Quotably was tonight, get passed around so fast and talked about so much?

Just one month after Facebook launched Beacon, a controversial advertising platform, the company has scaled back its plans and humbly apologized for stomping on its users' privacy.

The Government and Accountability Office (GAO) has concluded that the Federal Communications Commission does nothing with about four out of every five consumer complaints that it puts into a database and investigates. Even worse, the GAO could not discern from its survey of the FCC's complaint process why the FCC takes no enforcement action with 83 percent of the complaints it looked into from 2003 through 2006. "Without key management tools, FCC may have difficulty assuring Congress and other stakeholders that it is meeting its enforcement mission," the GAO report warns. That's putting it mildly. If the FCC does set up some serious net neutrality guidelines for ISPs like Comcast, how can P2P application users and other consumers know that the agency will take their comments seriously?

This is a real bummer for Adobe and many users and developers, because most of the world's casual games are written for Flash. Just go over to game site Kongregate. Or, look at the world's video like that on YouTube (or any other video site like the Qik one that I use on my cell phone). Almost all of it is done in Flash. Now developers at those sites will need to find some other method to get those games and videos onto the iPhone.

Thanks to the wonderful world of spammers most websites these days rely on CAPTCHA images to force users to prove they are human before accepting comments or other user feedback. In fact humans solve roughly 60 million CAPTCHAs a day according to a the people behind reCAPTCHA a group that wants to leverage that effort to help digitizing books.
