I'm bookmarking this to keep in the back of our minds. As we develop the GSCC project -- or possibly for other e-PD projects -- badges may become of greater interest. Interesting to see how badges can be done on WordPress platforms.

According to the About page, Tagasauris helps it's user-clients to generate metadata for their photos and other "knowledge-work." Users upload photos and a distributed network of Tagasaurus on-demand employees generate the metadata. Users are charged a fee for this service.

As of Sept 2012, video & audio are "coming soon." I'm not sure if they are yet equipped to handle "knowledge work." Also unclear where true crowdsourcing comes in. It sounds like they provide the (selected) crowd, rather than this being a platform one can employ to open work to the larger crowd.

Kaltura is an open source video tool that has plug-ins/modules for many popular open source tools including Moodle and WordPress.

This is a neat "tool" for free-writing. When the user hits the "go" button, s/he will see a word at the top of the screen and have 60 seconds to write about it.

Excellent course site. This is where I have taken some web technology courses and I love how they do it. Learnable's tag line: "Ordinary people. Extraordinary knowledge." Also a platform where you can BUILD a course and collect fees from it.

Home page for NetLogo, a multi-agent programmable modeling environment. The platform environment is available to download and sample models are are available online. Many are simulations and can qualify as digital learning objects.

Video Curation Engine. There are multiple fee and technology levels for this tool, including magnifyFree. With magnifyFree you can gather videos across the web and build your own video channel at no cost.
