Solyndra Inc. was given a very large loan out of the economic stimulus package of 2009. Since then the business has been shut down and law makers have been questioning what happened to this $528 million loan.

This story is newsworthy because right now president Obama is recommending new ways to stimulate job growth and the original stimulus package was supposed to do the same thing. The loan to this company resulted in a loss of jobs because the company closed down.

This article is timely because everyone is concerned about the state of the economy in the United States.

House Republicans questioned Wednesday whether the White House rushed approval of a half-billion-dollar loan guarantee for a now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer once cited as the kind of renewable energy company worthy of federal stimulus money.

I found this story newsworthy because it involves a man from my area. The qualities of newsworthiness that this story contains are timeliness, proximity, and unusual nature. The story was published just yesterday, and the magazine where the photo in question was displayed was a recent issue. The story is also very near to me. The man who took these photographs lives in my town. The story is of unusual nature because it isn't very often that men or women from Flemington, a small town in Jersey, are published or recognized in national media.

Newly-Obtained Emails Show Further Treasury Concern Over Solyndra Restructuring | Fox B... - 0 views

"Newly-Obtained Emails Show Further Treasury Concern Over Solyndra Restructuring Treasury officials, on several occasions, questioned the legality of the Department of Energy's approval of a loan restructuring for the now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer, Solyndra, according to internal government emails obtained by FOX Business. The emails show Treasury officials and a handful of accounts raised concerns with officials at the Departments of Energy and Justice that the proposed restructuring violated federal regulations. The Department of Energy eventually approved the agreement that brought in more private capital on the condition those investors would largely stand before the federal government in the event Solyndra filed for bankruptcy. The solar company did so nearly seven months later."
