"It's time for another Top 10 list and this time I'm doing something a little different. In honor of the upcoming holiday, I've selected some of my favorite book apps for iPad that are tailor made for Halloween reading. Unlike previous lists, most of these apps have not been fully reviewed on our site, so I've included a brief description and my overall star rating."

A scaled (!) down Geogebra/Geometer's Sketchpad inspired product. A little overdone on the design element, almost to the point of distraction. But, again, a thoughtful move in the direction of mobile mathematics.

"There is an awful lot of hot air blown about accessing student work from "class sets" of iPads, via email, WebDAV, Dropbox etc etc. A little known and cool method is this… We all know that we can share via iTunes over USB to any Mac/PC with a recent version of iTunes. Well would you believe the same thing works without a cable and it doesn't have to be the Mac/PC that manages the devices. It means that any teacher can access all the students files on a device that has been "Saved to iTunes". You can even pick up the work, mark it and hand it back to the iPad whilst the iPad is still being used by the kids (unbeknown to the user!)."

"Implementing iPads isn't exactly a just-add-water proposition. While they're wondrous little devices capable of enchanting learners for hours, to get the learning results you're likely after will take planning, design, and reflection"

There are many students with hearing loss that are integrated into mainstream schooling. These students struggle with the day to day situations that we simply take for granted or do not really have a full appreciation of.  Are there apps available to give these kids a leg up?  The simple answer is YES. These apps have been sourced as one way that the technology integration that happens in your room may be shared with all your students. These are apps that your hearing impaired students could use to make their everyday school live a little easier.

Months after teasing us at CES with an announcement of Skype's native VoIP client for the iPhone, the free Skype for iPhone will finally be available to download from the iTunes App Store sometime on Tuesday. Calls on Skype for iPhone work only if you're in range of a Wi-Fi network, so your call quality will in part be at the mercy and strength of wireless networks nearby--calls will not work over the cell phone network on the iPhone (but chatting will.) Another imperfect, but still neat, feature is the ability to accept incoming conference calls. While you won't be able to initiate a call, we're told, you will be able to jump on one if a buddy invites you in.
