More than knowing the right answer - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
Being wise is about so much more than knowing the right answer. Indeed, it can be argued that knowing the right answer can be an obstacle to learning and understanding. As we move further into times where knowledge is ubiquitous and yet truth is increasingly hard to find, merely knowing the right answer can be an impediment.

Teachers get glimpse of future : - 0 views

  •
Along with the Activboard, the district can get an Activote and Activexpression. These are tools that the students can use to take quizzes and tests. They can select an answer to a multiple choice question, answer true/false and yes/no questions and write answers and then send them to the screen. Once the students answer the question, the teacher can see right away how many students got it right and exactly who got it right and wrong. The students' names can be written on the board or they can be assigned a number so teachers can identify their responses. Also, teachers can take the scores from the quiz or test and drop them into their grade book.

10 Unanswerable Questions that Neither Science nor Religion can Answer - Futurist Speaker - 2 views

  •
A few years ago I was taking a tour of a dome shaped house, and the architect explained to me that domes are an optical illusion. Whenever someone enters a room, their eyes inadvertently glance up at the corners of the room to give them the contextual dimensions of the space they're in.

What do we need to know? - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
I keep circling back to this question of what do we need to know, or to learn. It comes up so often in conversations around education and is closely connected to what we hope to achieve for our students. It is a question whose answer shapes not only what we teach but how we teach and what we assess. It strikes at the heart of how we perceive the role of education in society and the way we answer it reveals much about our personal philosophy of education.

Implementing chat support software, the retailers have been able to enhance their first-visit resolution capabilities; because this web-based chat application increases the efficiency of chat representatives by allowing them to provide on-the-spot answers of their customers' queries. Additionally, the tracking component of live chat helps chat agents to gather useful information about a particular customer which later helps them providing accurate and quick answers in first contact.

Reimagining Education for Uncertain Times with David Perkins - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
These two powerful questions framed a recent webinar presented by Professor David Perkins of Harvard Graduate School of Education's Project Zero. Answering these questions and helping teachers find meaningful and contextually relevant answers to these questions has been a focus of Perkins' work, especially in recent times. His book "Future Wise: Educating Our Children for a Changing World" introduced us to the notion of lifeworthy learning or that which is "likely to matter in the lives our learners are likely to live". This is a powerful notion and one that has the potential to change not only what we teach but also how we go about teaching what we do.

Why banning technology is not the answer - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
There is something about human nature that draws us towards dichotomous patterns of thought; an all or nothing, us or them style of thinking in which an option is either good or it is bad. In such a model complexity and subtle nuance with multiple possible outcomes and routes towards a goal are ignored. The field of educational technology is one where such a pattern is evident and recent ban on technology by a Sydney school shows how this style of analysis can have a significant impact on student learning.

Striving to preserve Truth - The Learner's Way - 0 views

  •
What purposes does education serve? What needs of humanity does education serve? What might the product of our labours be like and how might our efforts contribute to the greater good? These are questions we have long struggled with but with but it seems that in the current times we might need to rethink how we answer these questions.

GeoNet Game - 0 views

  •
Challenging geography games. Players are given a choice of answering questions regarding a U.S. or World map and then given choices of different regions to explore. Once you pick a region you are then given 6 categories to test your knowledge and skills. Players also can select between two levels of difficulty. This game works wonderfully on the SMART Board.
