I really like this resource. I especially like how it asks you your goals and has solutions that could help with your lessons. Great for integration!
  •
Wow! Great find. Like Andi, I like how it asks you your goals and then takes you straight there and then has ratings. I can see this being a great easy way for teachers to learn some new ways to introduce technology into lesson plans.

Hi Mel, Great resource. More sites like this need to be out there to help teachers sift through the thousands of programs available and get to the usable ones that have been tested by teachers. I think I may have got this link from you before. I did share it with a few of our principals so they may pass it on to their teachers.

This would be a great resource for teachers to use with students. So many possibilities! It would be a perfect fit when learning about landforms in social studies.

Andi, Way cool site! I hadn't heard of this before. I can see where it would be of good use in the classroom. Lots of multimedia activity going on. Thanks for sharing.
  •
Hello, Andi, and thanks for sharing. This is a great website, and I'm somewhat ashamed as a geography teacher that I didn't already know about it. I use Google Earth all of the time, and this website will supplement that well. I'll present this as well to our world history teachers in 6th grade as a potential resources as well. Thanks again.

Free software that is comparable to Microsoft Office. Works well on Macs
  •
Hi Jane, Thanks for sharing. This is a great resource for schools who cannot afford Microsoft Office or just want something more uniform in a multi platform environment. I have actually found that some things (excel type functions) work better in OpenOffice than Excel itself. Plus since it is free, kids can download at home as well.

Doug Johnson Mind/Shift BYOD - 1 views

  •
This article again features some discussion with Doug Johnson from Mankato Schools in Minnesota on BYOD strategies in his district.
  •
Hi, Shane, cool blog. I especially like the article that you linked to about the BYOB program. I have a BYOD program in my own classroom. Kids still aren't supposed to have their devices in school, but my room is a technology haven. I've been somewhat forced into it since my district isn't 1:1 so I have students supplement our school technology with their own devices. It seems to work fairly well, and once you establish expectations, it probably lessens the disruptions to class time form technology.

Sophia for Teachers - 1 views

This resource is from Capella University and their teachers are teaching many different tutorials about math and science. This resources gives tips and tools to better teach  in the classroom .
  •
What a wonderful and credible resource! After exploring the site I think I would mainly use these as a resource for myself as a teacher. But I do think some of the tutorials may be appropriate for upper elementary grades and on. In a way, this reminds me of the Khan Academy website. If you can't remember how to do something or if you need a new way to teach something then this would be an excellent tool to turn to.
