This Assistant Teacher works in Kindergarten and is always on the look out for ways to integrate ICT into the children's learning and the kindergarten curriculum. I'm really looking forward to reading through her past and future blog posts, in the hope of getting some inspiration and ideas on how I can use ICT in the early childhood context. I hope this will also help other early childhood students in edc3100.

The first, of hopefully many, images bookmarked as part of an activity in the ramble for week 4 of EDC3100. When observing and teaching high school mathematics classes while on professional experience, one of the strongest impressions I had was the sense of disconnection felt by the students. A strong disconnection between their current and future lives and what they were learning in mathematics.

Google doc trying to answer "what will pedagogy look like in ten years' time"?  Mostly higher education focused which may influence rejigging of EDC3100 - or may not. Potentially interesting longer term implications for other education sectors.

This weeks task on EDC3100 involving The Decoding Learning report gave me some inspiration about my reasons for using ICT... Creativity in my drama class is something that ICTs will definitely help with I think. This link shows the relationship between ICT and inspiring creative thinking. Uni computers wont allow me to use my diigo toolbar on this piece so I cannot make highlights or annotations unfortunately.

Vicki Davis provides insight into ways in which teachers can teach with better results. Very interesting blogs that are well worth the read for EDC3100 students.

Much of what is covered in EDC3100 assumes the status quo of the educational system. In fact, a large part of it focuses on how to fulfil the requirements of the Australian Curriculum. Here's a story (magazine article) about a different approach that has its origins in a number of sources (Piaget and Montessori amongst the more recognisable). A challenge.

April Fool's prank that resonates with EDC3100 on two fronts. First, the importance of reading the whole thing (e.g. learning path). Second, the limitations of indulging in your immediate response to an issue around change. The idea it was always better in the past, that the present is flawed in someway
