A project and a collection of photos from Queensland's history.

I know it's not what the picture is of, but to me it represents NAPLAN. The fact that we try to grade children who are as unique as a fingerprint with the same standardised tests still astounds me.

Group work - in my obervastions there was a lot of group work and team building skills during a Physical Education lesson, at the beginning of the year. It created a great environment, where they felt safe and equal to contribute in the classroom.

This image represents one of my main aims during proffesional experience as i beleive that students learn best when activities are engaging as well as informative!

The first, of hopefully many, images bookmarked as part of an activity in the ramble for week 4 of EDC3100. When observing and teaching high school mathematics classes while on professional experience, one of the strongest impressions I had was the sense of disconnection felt by the students. A strong disconnection between their current and future lives and what they were learning in mathematics.

"one way" seems to be the underpinning assumption of most formal education. The is one curriculum, one path through that curriculum etc. The presence of the 2nd one way sign just adds to the sense of confusion that comes with most current formal education.

I have done all my pracs with children under the age of 6 so the most common form of learning I have experienced is imaginative play.

Individual use of ICT in the classroom is the way of the future. This picture just shows one example of the increase in student engagement that using ICT's facilitates.

Technology is inseparable with education including early childhood education. With the use of technology such as laptops, pre-literacy and pre-numeracy lessons are more fun, active, and engaging for the children as it creates different ambience and promotes active learning in the classroom as well as home setting.

I have witnessed many children (in the primary context) completing their school work with the use of computers. ICT plays a very important role in the classroom.

I chose this pictures as it represents how young children learn through play, both by themselves and with the help of an adult or teacher.

Through my practical experiences there is has been a major focus on children learning through play.

Learning by doing and having fun with it

ICT's can and should be used across all Learning Areas. There are many interesting and informative tools and applications to be accessed using technology and therefore using these broadens the students mind and moves away from the limitations that common applications such as Microsoft Office provide.
