A brief summary of my unit plans- activity from EDC3100 study desk

This Assistant Teacher works in Kindergarten and is always on the look out for ways to integrate ICT into the children's learning and the kindergarten curriculum. I'm really looking forward to reading through her past and future blog posts, in the hope of getting some inspiration and ideas on how I can use ICT in the early childhood context. I hope this will also help other early childhood students in edc3100.

List of "things" that you'll probably still find in most schools, but which this article argues are obsolete. Many of these link with aspects of EDC3100. Assuming you agree with some of thse, a challenge is how are you going to help make these obsolete? e.g. "Isolated classrooms" is one you might be able to do something about. As is "Teachers that don't share what they do"

The first, of hopefully many, images bookmarked as part of an activity in the ramble for week 4 of EDC3100. When observing and teaching high school mathematics classes while on professional experience, one of the strongest impressions I had was the sense of disconnection felt by the students. A strong disconnection between their current and future lives and what they were learning in mathematics.

This weeks task on EDC3100 involving The Decoding Learning report gave me some inspiration about my reasons for using ICT... Creativity in my drama class is something that ICTs will definitely help with I think. This link shows the relationship between ICT and inspiring creative thinking. Uni computers wont allow me to use my diigo toolbar on this piece so I cannot make highlights or annotations unfortunately.

April Fool's prank that resonates with EDC3100 on two fronts. First, the importance of reading the whole thing (e.g. learning path). Second, the limitations of indulging in your immediate response to an issue around change. The idea it was always better in the past, that the present is flawed in someway

Look at the image attached to this tweet. It captures one of the challenges teachers face in an increasingly ICT-enabled world. How do you deal with students who bring pesonal devices (like mobile phones) to class? What happens when those devices distract students from learning? How do you deal with this? Is this a good way to deal with it? If you do this, how long before some of your students start bringing two phones to class? One to give to you and one to keep using.
