This provides a database of archaeological sites currently under excavation, including images of artefacts and some historical information. You search by region and then get a list of sites currently being worked on, so it can be a bit time-consuming but would be excellent for student research.

What an excellent resource! It has a funky interactive map with little information windows that pop up as you mouse over them, and then if you click it gives you more detailed information. Definitely useful for student research or a classroom activity. The maps are quite beautiful.

This is a database set up in the UK to record archaeological artefacts found in Britain. It has a growing collection of coins, art, etc usually accompanied by an image. Would be useful when designing classroom resources or in senior student research, I would imagine.

If you scroll down or click 'History' you'll see the History lecture podcasts offered by MIT. Personally, I use iTunes to subscribe to university lecture podcasts. My students find them invaluable for their research.

Antique Roman Dishes - Collection - 0 views

What an excellent find! Ancient Roman recipes. I couldn't find any containing the infamous garum (fermented fish oil) but there was still some weird stuff. Guess every country has its weird food (kimchi for Koreans, Vegemite for us). Anyway thank God the Europeans discovered the Americas or we'd still be eating this stuff. Yuck.

This well-known collection seems to be widely used. A bit like the History Sourcebooks, it seems (although I've found them better to use).

There's a lot of rubbish on this site but some good stuff too if you're patient. This fella has some quality powerpoints for use in the classroom; I've found the Flow of History powerpoints better but still use these sometimes. Not sure if you can download them.
