Have you ever wondered how your favorite place used to look like 50 or 100 years ago? Would you like to refresh your childhood memories and find out what your native town looked like when you were a kid. If "yes" is the answer to either of the questions, you'll find the three projects shared in this post quite exciting. They have a few things in common: they all support Google Maps for you to easily find the place you are interested in. They all have Google Earth integrated for you to get the location 3D view and they allow users to upload old photographs of any geographical locations.

Pakistan's highest court escalated its clash with the government on Monday by initiating contempt of court proceedings against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for failing to pursue corruption charges against his boss, President Asif Ali Zardari.

A fast, fun overview of world history content. Comparable in some ways to The Millennium series by CNN. Some think this would be good for "flipping" the classroom. I happen to disagree - since it is too fast. Better for review imo.

Entertaining and informative series on topics in world history.

My students LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! I use them as unit openers in my honors world history class to previw the big ideas and hook them to that unit. I create higher order thinking type questions they answer after or questions where they predict things about the unit. But the videos are awesome!

An excellent collection of sites by those awesome librarians at the University of Washington about British and Irish history. Well-organised and good quality.

You have to buy access to this but the quality would be awesome. Your library can apply for a one-month free trial.

How awesome! You can use Adobe Shockwave (it's free) to view these medieval and early modern texts from the British Library. Makes you wonder if one day we'll be able to see this stuff in 3D while sitting at home.

A catalogue of images, manuscripts, etc maintained by the American Antiquarian Society. What an awesome bunch. Will be good for any aspect of American social history, I would imagine.
