The California Institute for Ancient Studies Biblical History Main Menu - 5 views

  •
Not quite sure why the "California Institute for Ancient Studies' has German on the homepage. Not great quality but if it's Bronze Age I usually bookmark it regardless - there's not much on that era.

Parliament Rolls of Medieval England | British History Online - 2 views

  •
These medieval parliamentary records have just been released. They're part of the 'premium content' section but it's only 30 pounds per year to access so might be worth it.

I can't figure out if the content on this site is created for the site or if it has a search ability and retrieves content from all around the web. Contains many articles on early modern and modern American history.

Women's Suffrage - Primary Source Set - For Teachers (Library of Congress) - 4 views

  •
Excellent collection of primary source sets on women's suffrage. Interestingly, it shows the counter-movement against women's suffrage by some women. Fascinating stuff.

Real USSR - Lifting the Iron Curtain - 3 views

  •
I don't usually add blogs however this one has so much quality historical material on real life in the USSR that I thought some people might find it useful. Might help to dispel some of the myths about life in the big bad evil Soviet Empire.

Making Sense of Letters and Diaries - 10 views

  •
Looks like a useful guide by an experienced history teacher. Might be good for homework or a lesson activity? I'm focussing at the moment on training my students with 'historical thinking.' I find it much more useful a model than the 'critical thinking' models so common these days, and the results are promising. If anyone has any tips I'd be most appreciative...

Based on a proposal by a school principal from Saratoga, NY, U.S. railways created the Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time zones, plus the Intercolonial time zone in Atlantic Canada. It was agreed upon by the railways in October 1883 that they would adopt Standard Railway Time, on Nov. 18, 1883.

Photographs of the Great Depression - 1 views

  •
I usually avoid sites like this (wikis, encyclopaedias, etc - they're easily found) however this one has photos from the Great Depression so I thought it worthwhile. The faces are harrowing.

TheArchaeologicalBox.com | TheArchaeologicalBox.com - 1 views

This is more for archaeology than history, but looked so useful I added it. I think it's kind of a database of archaeological sites and news maintained by archaeologists.

Welcome to the Digital Library of Georgia - 1 views

  •
An extensive collection of texts and images detailing many aspects of life in the South during the twentieth century. Seems to focus on 'everyday' history rather than the big events. But then again history is about people, isn't it?

Documents Related to the History of International Relations, prior to 1914 - 1 views

  •
A comprehensive list of links to documents on all periods of history, mainly focussed on the West. Seeings this links to all sorts of sites there will probably be a few dead links but it purports to link to documents and is maintained out of a university so should be useful for research and study.

Open Collections Program: Women Working - 1 views

  •
Another one of the precious collections provided by that most excellent of libraries, Harvard University Library. It's so great that they don't just lock it up and be snobs. Good on them.
  •
Women Working, 1800 - 1930 focuses on women's role in the United States economy and provides access to digitized historical, manuscript, and image resources selected from Harvard University's library and museum collections. The collection features approximately 500,000 digitized pages and image
