This site includes copies of Secretary of the Treasury reports from the 1780s through the present. What was the budget of the United States in 1800s? How much did the "Traiff of Abominations" raise? How much did the Civil War cost? How much did the New Deal cost? - answers to all of these questions cane be found in these reports. Setting students into these for "real" research may find even more.

These are a set of out-of-print guides made by the NYC Board of Education in 1993-1994. They are full of primary sources, short text selections and activities which many teachers have found very useful. Although designed for 7th and 8th grade they can be modified for high school and elementary school. Many teachers have used these over the last 17 years to help them develop their lessons. They are large files so they will take a few minutes to open. Note that both sets follow the same format but the 8th grade guides were done with a modern text style and therefore "looks" much better.

Seems to have a few sources in there, strong ideological agenda aside. Might be good for teaching the history of the poor or minorities.

The Papers of Jefferson Davis, a documentary editing project based at Rice University in Houston, Texas, is publishing a multi-volume edition of his letters and speeches, several of which can be found on this web site. The site also provides extensive information on Davis and his family and numerous images.

I keep plugging this bloke, but I've found these resources great for use in the classroom. He takes a 'flow' approach to history which the students respond well to. I've found it useful to edit and adapt the content in his resources, but they're MUCH better than your average simplistic textbook with 'exercises' at the end of the chapter. People don't learn in chapters.

I've found these resources excellent. You buy them for 3 bucks and it's worth it. I use them now with all my classes and I've found them really effective.

I've found these really useful for my year 12s. Berkeley has an awesome history department and it's like the kids can be in the room during a lecture. They listen to them and take notes for their assignments. Parents love it, too. I've particularly found Isabelle Pafford useful for her lectures on the ancient world.
