Members of Educational Testing Service's (ETS) Research & Development (R&D) division led the assessment research behind GlassLab's new educational game SimCity™EDU: Pollution Challenge! This new game brings elements of computer gaming to the world of education - providing assessment and learning in an environment that is engaging and exciting. ETS researchers are collaborating with GlassLab on several more educational games.

"Experts" are still unclear on how much or how little children should be using digital media. However, it is clear that contents is important.

"Carnegie Mellon University is convening a high-powered consortium of educators, researchers, and technology-company executives that will spearhead efforts to develop standards and promote best practices in online education."

'Quest to Learn' is a New York City public middle and high school, supporting collaborative student-led learning: "Quest to Learn has used research in game-based learning to create a rigorous and engaging collaborative learning space where students feel safe taking risks and using their successes and failures to create and apply new knowledge." "Nurturing social and emotional learning (SEL) and 21st century skills like inventiveness, risk taking and collaboration."

Quality education for children in families earning less than $2/day is a huge challenge in developing countries. If tech can help...definitely transformative.

Gates Foundation is now rolling out funding for researchers to produce peer-reviewed quality studies on MOOCs. It looks like professors around the world (as far as down south in Australia) are keen to start working on this new tech trend in education.

Does it look like digital citizenship is being promoted sufficiently by educators? Huffington Post doesn't think so and is advocating for more aggressive tactics from education sector.
