Below is a quote from : Cedric Cullingford (2006) Children's own vision of schooling, Education 3-13: International Journal of Primary, Elementary and Early Years Education, 34:3, 211-221, DOI: 10.1080/03004270600898745  "At the heart of the problem, to put it simply, is the fact that although children love to learn, they resent being taught"

The strategies that Ringham shares (welcome project, videos and audio interactions) sounds like a positive step towards achieving promotive interaction. I suppose next, in designing the online platform to also make students understand dependencies and what is expected from group versus individuals would help build the other 2 aspects of "co-operative learning" as well.

Comment: As we're talking about the Common Core Standards, this is a concept which aligns itself to the CCSS. I volunteered through a non-profit organization this summer to teach AVID classes concepts about the world of work, entrepreneurship and personal finances. (AVID is advancement via Individualistic Determination)
