"Pre-university students ages 13 to 17 are invited to take part in Google Code-in, our contest introducing young minds to the world of open source. With a wide variety of bite-sized tasks, it's easy for beginners to jump in and get started no matter what skills you have. Mentors from our participating organizations are available to lend a helping hand as you learn what it's like to work on an open source project. Want to work with a real open source software organization while earning cool prizes? Try your hand at Google Code-in. The contest begins on December 7th."

Taking control of your Calendars: Part 1 | Betchablog - 53 views

  •
I'd been treating iCal as my "source of truth" calendar and then making it sync outwards to Google Calendar.  As it turns out, I now realise I was thinking about it all wrong. The trick is to make the Google Calendar the "source of truth" calendar and then have it sync out to everywhere else.

Google Squared is a search tool that helps you quickly build a collection of facts from the Web for any topic you specify. * Facts about your topic are organized as a table of items and attributes (we call them "Squares" for fun). * Customize these Squares to see just the items and attributes you're interested in. * See the websites that served as sources for the information in your Square. * Save and share Squares with others.

information fluency @ Bing vs. Google - 0 views

  •
Here's a side by side comparison of Bing Vs Google results on the term: Information Fluency 21cif.com ( formerly 21cif.imsa.edu ) has been online for 10+ years and dominates the Google Search results. Nothing in the top ten for Bing? Google ranks our old url #1 and our new url #4. Give this a try for your self with the same terms? I'll bet you get radically different results from Google than I do. Since I've worked on the 21cif project for nearly 8 years, I know the materials well. Also Google has adapted to my search habits and provides me with more links relevant to my interest. On the Google page I'm given a link to my search-wiki results: http://tinyurl.com/21cif-search-wiki This proves the point 21cif has been making for a decade: USE MULTIPLE SEARCH ENGINES! The more sources of information you tap, the better your chances of getting a less filtered view of what's available on the world wide web
