Along with the GSCC project, the Monterey Institute was also awarded a Gates Foundation technology-related grant. The Institute's grant is to produce developmental math materials that will be released as Open Educational Resources (OER).

The Community College Research Center (CCRC) is part of the Insitute on Education and the Economy, Teacher's College, Columbia University. From their site: "CCRC"s mission is to conduct research on major issues affecting community colleges in the United States and to contribute to the development of practice and policy that expands access to higher education and promotes success for all students."

In the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Texas at Austin, the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP) was established in 1944. The program focuses on training community college leaders.
