Part of the University of Georgia's College of Education Initiative on Innovation in Teaching and Technology (ITT), this page links to presentations in the Innovation 20/20 series. Each topic is a 20 minute presentation on a specific innovation, followed by a 20 minute discussion period. Topics range from more reflective teaching (e.g. Using Metaphor to Explore Teaching and Learning) to using specific tools or strategies (Designing and Implementing an Undergraduate Blogging Community in EDIT 2000 or Motivating Students with Google Tools and More). Website of the online journal, published at Bowling Green State University. The journal publishes on the theoretical and the practical, as well as articles covering professional development and reviews of relevant products/apps.

A series of math tutorials by "qualified, creative individuals." The tutorials are relatively short, and broken down into single concepts. Teachers are invited to share their own videos. Unfortunately, though the tagline says "Choose your lesson. Choose your teacher," it is difficult to find citations/teacher credits for individual lessons.

An alternative to Khan Academy a series of videos to help explain mathematical concepts to your students.

Software to help teachers more effectively grade assignments and "communicate progress to students and parents."

TM describes her use of this software in terms of how she manages her time in and out of the classroom.

General information -- as well as ordering information -- about the HBO film, Temple Grandin.

In the context of "meaningful assignments," TM shows this film in class, discusses it with the students, and then students are assigned to write a letter to Grandin (using business format). TM mails the packet of letters to Dr. Grandin.

Website offering a library of over 2,400 educational videos covering everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and 150 practice exercises.

AH offered Khan Academy exercises to students as an alternative to homework. In many cases, those who took the Khan option in parallel to their classroom work really improved.

This website for the film offers a downloadable study guide and offers to buy the DVD of the film. The film looks at the rise of the military industrial complex in the U.S.

SB used this film to queue a writing assignment.

ME shared this book in the Teaching forum with the recommendation that it has a good game for students learning each other's names.

Part of Annenberg Learner, each series listed here has a selection of videos available for download. Topics range from surveys of American and World literatures, to teaching students to work with artifacts, to developing writers. Grade ranges vary by series. Production of these videos is supported by the Annenberg Foundation.

From their About page, "edshelf is a directory of websites, mobile apps, and desktop software that are rated & reviewed by educators, for educators. We decrease the friction of using and procuring effective technology into the classroom." Concentration is on K-12, but these apps might also be useful for postsecondary teachers.

TED2005, filmed Feb 2005, posted Dec 2006. St. John interviews a variety of "TED-sters" to learn their secrets of success, which are condensed into 8 points in this very brief talk,.

TS showed this TED talk and then asked her students to identify the thesis statement, week 3, semester 4.

This is a video of LS's class (posted to YouTube by her); the marshmallow challenge became a popular ice-breaker among GSCC faculty. Week 1, semester 4.

Looking to add "variety in instruction," KP closed her class with the first 6 minutes of this TED talk, week 1, semester 4.

TM shared this and several other TED Talks as examples of innovation in her classroom.
