Difícilmente podremos desarrollar esa competencia digital en nuestros estudiantes sin una correcta integración del uso de las TIC en las aulas (para lo cual es necesario disponer de conectividad amplia y estable en todos los espacios) y que los docentes tengan la formación necesaria en esa competencia. Son los dos factores más importantes para una plena integración de las nuevas tecnologías en educación, todavía no resueltos satisfactoriamente en bastantes lugares a pesar de los esfuerzos realizados con ese fin. La conectividad irá llegando a todas las aulas, pero será más complicado que haya un suficiente nivel generalizado de competencia digital docente si no hay un marco común de referencia que permita validar esa competencia (que todavía algunos consideran algo opcional o reservado para quienes tengan afición a la informática) y desarrollar un plan de formación coherente con una propuesta de indicadores evaluables que permita reforzar una de las áreas de la profesionalización docente peor atendidas en la formación inicial.
