Sorry, Skype, Tango Is Dancing With Windows Phone Mango First - 0 views

  •
Even though Microsoft acquired Skype in May for a whopping $8.5 billion, an obscure application known as Tango will give power to video calls on several upcoming Windows Phone devices. Starting with coming preloaded on the Windows Phone 7.5, the Mango, sometime in the next few weeks. Are we seeing some competition for Skype? I think so, and it will be interesting to see the outcome of this battle.

  •
Microsoft's Window 8 Consumer Preview now gives everyone a chance to experience the company's most biggest change in user interference since Windows 95. It is now a mouse-centric desktop to a touch-friendly, high visual Metro style UI. There are also many more great changes. Window's challenge is the iPad. They share a few similarities. Many people don't like iPad because it doesn't have flash or LTE. Though others like sir love the iPad and will forever.

  •
In order to prove that the Windows Phone 7 flagships phone are faster than any other phone, Microsoft has a new marketing campaign where they invite you to bring your own phone in and pit it's speed against one of Microsoft's phones. Someone has actually managed to win this challenge but was not awarded her prizes because the employees at the store gave her a sudden excuse about needing to have widgets open that tells the weather in two different cities in two different states. She was later issued an apology and challenged to a rematch.

Perform Nearly Any Windows Task with One Keystroke - 0 views

  •
This article represents a tool called the AutoHotkey. This is a downloadable program that will help you create shortcuts for system tasks in Windows. This tool can assign hotkeys such as shutting down or restarting your computer, adjusting volume, and opening/closing the CD drive, etc. I find this very convenient for people who use their computers everyday because it arranges a more faster and easier use for system task. It is also very useful for people who are lazy and don't want press buttons on certain areas of the computer or monitor.

Windows 8 BSoD ditches confusing error codes for uninformative frowny face -- Engadget - 0 views

  •
Everyone is familiar with the infamous Blue Screen of Death, right? Well, Windows 8 has revamped their ever so annoying alert. The error codes most commonly seen on computers when the feared Blue Screen appears are gone, replaced with a sad emoticon that still leaves you guessing what's wrong. It does tell you that the PC is rebooting, but not why. Still infuriating and rather pointless. :(

The article said that windows 8 is going to be the next big thing in computers, its said to be the future of computers. This is mainly because of of its lack of a mouse pad. instead it uses a stylis, so that you can write on the screen and it will recogize the style of writing. its is also portable however the article said that the screen is oddly shaped. Window 8 use more apps and the cloud will make it even better. This article basically explains all of the new features with windows 8 and how it is useful.

  •
Microsoft is now expanding to the Middle East and North Africa with their Windows Phone and teaming up with Brightpoint. I think that this is great for their business and allows them to spread their clientele, although they are a little behind compared to companies like Blackberry, who already have their products in these countries.

Nokia Falls - 0 views

  •
This article is about how Nokia is losing sales because of lack of demand. In an effort ot save the company, Nokia collaborated with Microsoft to create Nokia's Lumia Windows smartphone, the market for it's phones is still declining. There has been a 20 percent decline in quarterly sales resulting in a loss of 272 million euros. Although sales of the LUmia Windows smartphone has increased by 27% it is not enough to offset Nokia's losses. This article shows that Apple has created a niche market in which it dominates. Apple seems to be the only company that customers continually purchase phones from, without decline. With each new phone release Apple develops stronger customer loyalty, that keeps it as one of the top phone companies in the market.

Should I Run a Second Operating System in a Virtual Machine or Dual Boot? - 0 views

  •
This is article is all about running a second operating system in a virtual machine or dual boot. Choosing between this two methods is up to you, because  you need to think which better for your particular needs. Both have pros and cons, but are better suited to specific situations. Dual booting is great for games and other Long stints in an operating system while virtualization is great for running that one program, or testing out a new OS.
  •
This article discusses the options of running an OS within an OS for example a VMware image of Apple Mac OS X 10.7 Lion running on a Windows based machine within the VMware software package. It discusses the issues of performance when you use another OS within a host OS and how the processor has to utilise and manage its resources within the both OS's for it to run, so therefore the virtual OS will be very laggy and unresponsive if it has to utilise a lot of resources and if it has a lot of programs and processes open simultaneously. While Dual booting is great if you own a Apple Mac due to the fact that not many games can run on the Mac environment because of the need of most games require the Microsoft DirectX 10 codec or higher for example CRYSIS 2  which is only available to Windows machines for it to function properly. This therefore is relevant to my course due to the fact that it discusses many software package limitations and also hardware limitations which can get in the way of what you want to achieve for example VMware .ISO file of Apple Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion running on an Acer Aspire 5247.

LG made the first 55-inch OLED TV which , and it will cost $8,000. The timing jibes with what we heard at CES, but it's the first solid word we've heard as to what the future of beautiful television is going to cost us. Eight thousand. That's a lot of money-more money than most people have to spend on a TV, by a longshot. But it could've been a lot worse! Samsung's current top of the line 55-inch LCD TV runs around half that-and it's using old, old technology. OLED will be out of reach for almost everyone, but, like everything else, it'll slide cheaper, and cheaper in a (relative) hurry. Especially when LG, Samsung, and the rest realize nobody can afford this. It realtes to the course because its technology.

  •
This article mentions a new invention by West Health Institute in San Diego.  This new invention is called the Reflexion Rehabilitation Measurement Tool (RMT). It uses your Windows 7 computer and Microsoft Kinect to help patients suffering from musculoskeletal disease to get their daily physical therapy and help patients stay on track. It also helps keep the patients involved with interactive feedback so that their doctors can see their progress and help the patients constantly improve in a fun way. This new technology will also help bring down the cost of healthcare as well as the number of doctor visits a patient has to make without compromising quality.  This article is all about eLifestyle and how technology can help improve our daily lives and in this case health. With this technology we can improve health care and bring down the cost that comes with the therapy. This tool can help patients stay connected with their doctors and constantly work and learn new physical therapy routines for the patients needs without long doctor visits. I think this is a brilliant idea that will help save time and money opening up room to help treat more people with musculoskeletal disease.

Angry Birds Star Wars is out - 0 views

  •
The company that created the Angry Birds franchise, Rovio, came out/released the Angry Birds Star Wars game.  This game is available on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, PC and Macintosh systems.  There is a free version and a paid version of the game.  The paid version of the game adds HD graphics.  There are more than 80 levels in the F2P version.  All though the general idea of the game is the same, they have added little things that are unique to Star Wars.  You start the game on Tatooine and the settings you play through are planets and the death star.  Another addition is the change is bird abilities.  For example, there is now a bird that holds a lightsaber and can go through obstacles.  This game, personally, sounds very interesting and I am sure to download it.
