Larger iPhone 6 May Cause Massive Spike in Upgrades, Lure Android Users - Mac Rumors - 0 views

  • Apple's upcoming iPhone 6 is widely rumored to include a larger display, which could encourage a significant number of users to upgrade in 2014, according to analyst Brian Marshall of ISI Group, who released a note to investors today.
  •
Apple's soon to come iPhone 6 is rumoured to have a larger display, which according to analyst Brian Marshall of ISI Group, could encourage many users to upgrade in 2014. Marshall suggests that Apple may release two versions of the phone, one with a 5.5 inch screen and one with a 4.7 inch screen. With a larger screen, the iPhone 6 may attract people who switched from iphone to android because of the larger screen, to come back to iPhones. A higher demand for an iPhone may happen because of this redesign plus the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5s. I personally, would switch to iPhone if I was using a Samsung Galaxy, because the large screen would now be on the iPhone, but it would still also depend on the price of this new phone.

Just Tap Your Phone On Every Wall and This App Will Draw a Floorplan - 0 views

  • It's not a bad idea to measure a room before you go out and buy a bunch of new furniture. And if you've got an iPhone, that becomes less of an ordeal because you can trade your tape measure for this slick app called RoomScan. It automatically generates floorplans by simply tapping your phone on every wall.
  •
This article is about an app for the iPhone that is called RoomScan. It is a floor plan generator which helps you when you measure a room if you are buying new furniture. It simply works by tapping your phone on every wall! The app uses your phone's built in GPS and gyroscope. Sadly, this app is only for iPhone and not for Android. I think this is a great app, and it helps people who are moving around furniture in the house because it saves a lot of time. This new creation also shows that technology in our society is replacing a lot of our in-home tools.

StoreDot's Bio-Organic Battery Tech Can Charge From Flat To Full In 30 Seconds | TechCr... - 0 views

  • StoreDot’s Bio-Organic Battery Tech Can Charge From Flat To Full In 30 Seconds
  •
This article is about a bio-organic battery by StoreDot, which uses quantum dot technology to charge a phone from flat to full in 30 seconds. There is currently only a prototype and the tech used has not yet been shrinked so that if is small enough to fit inside phones. The battery is famous for its amazing charging speed for a smartphone. The info of this technology is from research being done into Alzheimer's disease. The work is called peptides (amino acids), the company uses these molecules to create nano-crystals. The only disadvantage said by StoreDot is that the ecosystem is not ready because this is a brand new type of material. This creation is great but then it has some risks because of the new type of technology and it may affect the environment negatively.

FreedomPop's 'Snowden phone' encrypts your calls and data | Security & Privacy - CNET News - 0 views

  •
FreedomPop has come out with a new phone that will protect your phone calls and data from hackers. The phone is nicknamed the "Snowden phone" but is actually a Samsung Galaxy S2 that FreedomPop remodeled. The phone is selling now for $189 and comes with unlimited voice and texting. They also throw in 50MB of monthly data access for the first three months and then charges the users $10 a month. FreedomPop's Chief Operating Officer Steven Sesar says: "In light of recent violations in consumer's privacy across social networks and mobile devices, privacy is becoming increasingly important to many Americans and we all have a right to communicate anonymously. Large carriers don't have the flexibility, desire, or creativity to invest in privacy." I think this is a great idea because today, so many people don't know if their information is safe. This will help people feel more secure and safe with their information and not have to worry about who could have their phone calls or text messages.

Microsoft: Windows Phone 8.1 will come with more hardware support and is backwards-comp... - 0 views

  •
On February the 23rd, Microsoft made a few announcements on their Windows Phone. The new update 8.1 will have more flexible support for hardware and the phone will be able to use dual-SIM, apps on microSD and virtual softkeys instead of the original capacitive keys. The Windows phones will also not be required to have a hardware camera shutter key which people are excited for. The new update is refreshing and the updated hardware opens up more ability for the market to grow. I personally think this is a great move for Windows because it adds the options that their customers have been asking for. It has also been said on a similar article that the new update will allow Windows hardware to work on other phone companies such as Android. This might not be a good idea because people might not find the need to use the hardware if they already have one on their phone. Personally, if I wanted to use the Windows hardware, I would just buy a Windows Phone instead of downloading it on my existing one.

Microsoft's Cortana Could Combine the Best Parts of Siri and Google Now - 1 views

  •
In response to Google Now and Apple's Siri, Microsoft has announced its own voice-control companion for Windows Phone. Cortana will be available in the release of the next update. I found this interesting being a Windows Phone user and a fan of the Halo series. Cortana appears as Master Chief's A.I. companion in the series and will now be a companion to any windows phone user as well. I think this is really helpful to what the phone can do because right now voice control can only do a limited amount of tasks, such as open an app, make a note, or text someone. With this next update I will be able to perform tasks similar to what Siri can do, as well as feel a heightened sense of joy every time i talk to Cortana. It's like having Super Mario or Thomas the Tank as a personal companion.

Spin the Wheels on This Bike to Charge Your Phone - 0 views

  •
What if there a was a way to charge your smartphone and get a workout at the same time?  This project is currently being implemented in New York City.

Bikes open to the public that are able to charge phones have been scattered all over New York City.  The Charge Cycle hopes to bring a network of outdoor neon-green stationary bikes that allows anyone to charge their phone for free by simply peddling.  It takes the same amount of time to charge as if you were to directly plug it into the wall.

Although there are some concerns of theft, developers have chained the bikes and also put locks on the bikes, which makes it harder to move.

Nowadays, we all rely on our smartphones, they are technically our everything.  Many people would be devastated if it were to die, and they will not be able to use it until they have their charger and an outlet.  The Charge Cycle offers a charging system for smartphone users while they get a workout as well, so it is a "win win" situation for these users.  This affects our lifestyle because instead of sitting around doing nothing while waiting for our phones to charge, we can get a workout out of it, and stay fit and healthy.

I do think this a good idea because obesity rates today are increasing, which is dangerous.  In order to maintain a healthy diet, exercise is important.  This bike allows us to maintain said healthy diet, while charging our phones at the same time, which truly is a win win.

Windows Phone Marketplace now home to 120,000 apps | The Verge - 0 views

  •
This post is about the windows phone market increasing in number of apps. In june 2012, the Windows Phone market was home to only 100 000 apps, and is now at 120 000 apps. This shows that although it is a small amount compared to Apple's 650 000 apps in June 2012, it is very rapidly growing and becoming a more recognized competitor. When people are asked what they do not like about windows phones in general, most say that the are too few apps on the market. This is quickly becoming less and less of an issue. This relates to portable computing because these days people use apps for everything. A larger selection of apps can be the deal breaker on choosing between an iPhone and a Windows Phone. By having a large amount of apps available to customers, you can make their lives easier by meeting more of their daily needs through phone applications.

  •
Have you ever had the urge to use a computer or phone late into the night? I know I have (many times). Well, the truth is that staring at the screen for a while on these devices can actually kill your sleep cycle. However, this article gives a couple of tips for those who want to avoid the eye pain from the brightness of the screen (the most obvious being to just dim the brightness more) and avoid that irregular sleep cycle we all face from time to time.

In order to prove that the Windows Phone 7 flagships phone are faster than any other phone, Microsoft has a new marketing campaign where they invite you to bring your own phone in and pit it's speed against one of Microsoft's phones. She was later issued an apology and challenged to a rematch.

It plays music, makes calls and allows users to video chat with others.Since apps such as Skype and FaceTime are often used for business communication to help with web connectivity and control costs, AudiOffice allows users to use these programs without having to go through your computer.Don't have an iOS device? You can still connect a mobile phone to the system via its internal Bluetooth radio.

Can Microsoft Salvage Windows Phone? | TechCrunch - 0 views

  •
When Microsoft launched Windows Phone last year, I was of the opinion that it was a platform that would never build steam. The entrenched players - iOS, RIM, and Android - already controlled the market, and the hiatus between the last Windows Mobile phone and the first Windows Phone was too long for even the most dedicated or curious customers to wait. According to buyers and reviews, the windows phone had everything pleasing about from display to run times and lets not forget the interface. The reason windows didnt sell so many of their phones was because the time between windows phone left a big gap and many people were just simply not interested

Apple Bans Phone Story Game That Exposes Seedy Side of Smartphone Creation | GameLife |... - 0 views

  •
As many of you know smart phones are all the rage today. But I really don't think that anyone really stops to think.... how are these devices produced? Well in September of this year one app developer tried to get this out to the world. This developer created an app entitled "Phone Story." This application shows the negative aspects and the abuse and hard labour many of the workers must go through, which many times ends dramatically.
