this article talks about the increase in minimum wage that will come into effect june of this year. it tells us about things like how the cost of living is rising so the wages payed needs to increase as well. it also talks about the way employers do not want to increase the minimum wage but how it has to be done. this relates to me because i am a teenager looking to get a part time job and to hear that minimum wage is increasing is good news for me because as of now students get paid $9.60 and it will be increasing to $10.30

Kathleen Wynne drops into Reddit, disappoints users - Toronto - CBC News - 0 views

  •
The youth of today hate politics, but who can blame them when a struggle between old white men for power doesn't really peak there interest. Ontario's premier, Kathleen Wynne, thought she had the solution to the disenfranchised youth problem and turned to the social media site, Reddit, for a solution. on February 11 , 2014, Premier Wynne held an AMA (or ask me anything) from here account on the Canadian reddit board. Many, including myself, were very excited; a politician that's hip, relatable, and will answer questions I have about the government, this was every poli/computer-sci's wet dream. Unfortunately however, madam Wynne has lived up to the rest of her political career, underwhelming (shots fired). During the hour long AMA, hundreds upon hundreds of questions were asked, ones that got to the core of Ontario's political scene, questions about the socio-economic impacts of subway vs LRT. This was shaping up to be the AMA of the century... on the upside, we now know what her favourite books are... and where her next marathon will be held... yay? The premier answered a grand total of 10 questions, the 2 aforementioned included, and all received the same scripted political rhetoric that gave questions instead of answers. Our hopes for a relatable and understanding politician were scrapped by this blunder. All we wanted was a bridge between the politicians that control our lives and the thing we use daily. This was apparently too much to ask, leaving us youth as unconnected and dismissive as ever.

Inside the Brief Life and Untimely Death of Flappy Bird | Game|Life | Wired.com - 1 views

  •
The game Flappy Bird, created by Dong Nguyen was a rapid success. However it also followed with a rapid downfall. This article details how the game began to what it started as, an indie game created for a small nostalgic audience. It then grew to something way bigger. Dong was making more than $50,000 a week for his money. Flappy Bird was also number 1 on the app store for days straight, even then, Dong Nguyen was receiving death threats and rude remarks regarding his game. These threats and remarks kept happening so Dong was forced to remove his game off of the apple store. He is continuing to make other indie games though. Dong Nguyen said he will keep making games, and he wants to be a respected Indie game developer, not just another viral episode of the app store. Dong though, has been noticed by the indie developer that created Super Hexagon. I inferred, that a collaboration will happen between the developers. In my opinion I believe the cancellation of Flappy Bird was a publicity stunt to provide more coverage on Nguyen's other games.

This article is about the rise and fall of the once extremely popular and addictive mobile game, "Flappy Bird." For months, it was just another game that barely anybody downloaded or heard of just like the other games of indie developer, Dong Nguyen. The gameplay was simple yet very challenging and addictive, guide a bird through gaps in between 2 green pipes for as long as you can. As time went by Flappy Bird's popularity soared, and was the most popular app in the world. Many people's addiction to Flappy Bird went to the extreme, and at the same time, many others hated it with a passion even sending death threats to Nguyen. These factors prompted Nguyen to pull the plug on the game, a few days ago, claiming that it "ruined his simple life." In my opinion, Dong Nguyen didn't expect Flappy Bird to be a mega hit, and wasn't ready for the spotlight.

Apple's hiring spree of biosensor experts continues - 0 views

  •
The iWatch, Apple's much speculated piece of future wearable tech, is becoming more viable daily as Apple hires more tech experts with in backgrounds in medical technology. This lends it self to speculation that the iWatch will not only be wearable tech, but also wearable tech with medical uses. Among those hired are Marcelo Malini Lamego, a research and development expert who in the past has developed another piece of wearable medical tech. This in combination with the hiring of algorithm and biosensor developer Nima Ferdosi strongly point to the iWatch being more fact than fiction. Michael O'Reilly is another recent acquisition by Apple, this time a Chief Medical Officer at Masimo medical. This is especially strange because Mr. O'Reilly has a background in medicine, not technology. This, taken into account with Apple's latest grab at wearable medical technology developers suggests that the iWatch may not be far off, and it may be the future of at home medicine.

HowStuffWorks "What is Computer Animation?" - 0 views

  •
There are two kinds of computer animation. There is computer-assisted and computer-generated animation. Computer-assisted animation is 2-D and can be done my hand. Computer-generated animation is 3D and cannot be done my hand. Using mathematical algorithms to make objects follow physical laws like gravity. Computer animation began in the 1960s and improved greatly from there. Examples of early computer animated movie would be Westworld(1973) And Tron(1982). I find this field very interesting and is something I would be interested in studying.Computer animators are the ones who use computer animation and put all the things together to make something very special. Computer animation is something we are looking at constantly in the movies, shows and video games we see everyday.

Tight on memory? SanDisk microSD cards hit 128GB | Mobile World Congress - CNET Reviews - 0 views

  •
This article tells us that people that have maxed out their memory from photos, videos and apps, are now able to purchase a 128GB microSD. SanDisk has said that the card will use faster read and write speed. they also said that they will be updating the memory on the Zone app for android, with adding an additional feature OptiMem, this will allow automatic transfers of older photos and videos to a microSD card. But OptiMem will monitor users. i think that the automatic transfer and monitoring is a good feature because it will save time transferring photos and videos to a SD card, because you will not have to transfer the photos to your computer than to the card. The monitoring is also good because it will inform whenever internal memory falls below predefined threshold, SanDisk said.

Radiation-free cancer scans may be on the horizon | Cutting Edge - CNET News - 0 views

  •
THis article introduces a new cutting edge idea that exposes cancer without the radiation that could cause cancer further down the line. I find this fantasic the treatment not only leaves out the harmful radiation but it is also just as effective if not more. Another plus is it is also about the same price. I find that for the people being scanned i would find it a great comfort to me that i don't increase my chances of getting cancer because i was scanned for cancer. So it appears the MRI appoarch is on the rise.

the change is starting, ebook sales are finally passing printed book sales. I don't think that this will affect anyone in the developing world. book collectors can still collect books, but just digitally. the publishing business can still make profit, by selling these books, emagazines are making more sales than printed ones as well. the world is evolving, and the article said that by approximately 2025, printed books will be obsolete, and a new form of getting information will be in effect.
