Oxfam works to empower young people to be active Global Citizens. They promote education that helps young people understand the global issues that affect their lives and take action towards a more just and sustainable world. Their teams in England, Scotland and Wales support teachers through our range of on-line resources, teacher training and professional development, and partnership work with a range of other organizations.

I have a cousin who contributes to this group and I often recommend articles to other teachers from the site. I find that it can help teachers who have gotten stuck in a rut to break out of it. Most of the perspective are a bit liberal for Salem, OR but they still help colleagues look at issues in a new way.

This site promotes training for teachers in the field of human rights. There is a Lesson Plan related to Identity, which I think is key to starting a process of social inclusion. Eventhough I don't teach children, this lesson could be adapted for adults.

There are many things that are able to be accomplished throughout the development of the new techniques. For example how to keep in touch with our students and to program different activities in a course. All of this encourages students to never stop practicing what is definitely a process. If they feel the communication doesn´t stop, they feel happy and free to produce more and more each time.

I am very interested in adopted and foster children. I believe every child has the human right to a safe and healthy home environment. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. This is a great website I found that helps teachers navigate with this sensitive human rights issue. It's a great resource for not only understanding how to approach adopted students, but also how to teach other children about the lives of those whom live with guardians that are not their parents.

These are ready-made lesson plans that may have to be adapted to a particular context. A teacher might want to promote critical thinking skills in order to guide the students into discussing their ideas.
