Common Question I: Effective Instructional Strategies Please discuss three most effective instructional strategies integrated in your project. Please be sure to justify why they are effective instructional strategies. Remember instructional strategies are not your contents or "technologies," such as wiki, discussion board etc. It is the integrated soft technologies.

Group collaboration. Is utilized throughout lesson, from researching sites, comparing notes, application and designing a book for presentation. Production Process - the planning of all learning is taught in the Process Writing Exercise. Pre-production (the beginning) involves the brainstorming. Production (the focus) Drafting and developing. Post-production (feedback) review and adjustment. Expectations: Tried to make sure that there were no questions as to what is expected, and that the lesson was easy to follow.

Common Question II: Instructional Technology Please discuss the instructional technologies that you integrate into your lesson plan exclude your web sites/pages because they are the basic technology. Instructional technology is referred to hard technology in this question, such as discussion board, chat, wiki, blog etc.

I have used the wiki thread as a response area to immediately involve the student's use of wiki interaction. I also incorporated NiceNet as another conference area exposing a useful site, set up with the lesson plan as well. Using other websites to teach is purposefully fun, and is a means for collaboration. Actually building a book on-line teaches by example the tools available. The home page is meant to grab the visitors attention with something to do...the use of color for immediate interest and watch a video introduction to graphic design. The script is available for diversity; I would like to further develop a better universal design in my web site. I actually filmed and edited the video, so integrating this technology is what I feel teaching web-based is all about. Application. (and learning how to put the video on the website) :)

Common Question III: Pitfalls Do you think your web-based lesson plan is effective and successful? Can you foresee any pitfalls in project? Please describe them.

I feel my web-based lesson plan is effective and will be successful. The challenges that may hinder the application is the possibility of having too much to do for one lesson. I started the plan with too much content and cut back on what I wanted to cover. Having too much can be overwhelming, not only for the students, but for myself as well. I am sure that I will be able to address this when I put this into action. Is a struggle for me to access the time necessary to be productive and efficient, without over-doing. (but I have sooo much I want to say)

Michelle, Overall I like the lesson. The lesson is engaging and focused and uses external sites to support the lesson appropriately. You have also provided adequate scaffolding and step by step instructions on how to implement and carry out the lesson. Well done. * Aim/Purpose - Expert : Entry page provides informative video on the lesson topic. Good use of multi-colored fonts to draw reader's attention. * Lesson Plan/Teacher's Guide/ Instructional Plan : Expert: Lesson plan for teachers is well presented with the content and technology standards and correspond to the objectives and activities. * Student Activity Page: Expert: Lesson is designed for 10-12th graders - activities are appropriate for this age group. Activities are clearly listed in "Steps", are linked to the rubrics, and provide learners with clear idea of what is expected of them. * Parent Page : Expert++ Parent page is full of detailed and clear ideas for extending the learning activity beyond this lesson. - Excellent job. * Web Design: * Layout - Expert: Pages are clearly labeled - users know exactly what they will find on each page. Appropriate use of white space to avoid "over-crowding" of information. Information is organized and easy to read. * Navigation - Expert: All the links are labeled and open to the appropriate site. Important links are found in multiple places (i.e. within the lesson and on the resource page) * Graphics - Mastery: Somewhat limited use of graphics but those that are included are directly related to lesson. * Accessibility - Mastery: ALT tags are not apparent. * Fonts - Expert: Fonts are consistent throughout. Front page utilized colored fonts well. * Background - Expert: White background is simple and consistent and renders the pages easy to view. * Color Choices - Expert: Basic white background with mostly black font renders the site readable and clear. Visited links appear as a different color.
