As much as I love the idea of doing 'project based learning' in my class, most of the value is lost if it only exists in one class. This video does a great job of describing what's needed to really make PBL worth the time and effort.
Something to consider implementing with content groups to help improve consistency of experience for the same class? I think this could potentially help address the problem that instigated this weeks Listening groups.
I'd be on board with that, how do we generate some momentum. I've used this myself and with a few students in the past for tutoring and it works really well.
I personally find it amazing that "gamers' are still stigmatized, though that seems to be decreasing. My question is, do we give kids enough time to play games?
A laptop connected to the internet may provide the ultimate distraction, but they may also provide the ultimate will power aids. You wouldn't blame a hammer for smashing your thumb - let's use these things well.
