Washington Commentary states that the lowest percentage of young adults (18-29 years of age) participated in the national elections for 2000. Several reasons influence the decisions of these young adults: parental focus and attitude, below proficient levels of understanding, and comprehension in history, social studies, and civics classes, and lack of practice or experience in political engagement. Although the article is informational, the content does not lead itself to the particular point of interest.

A film on OhioLINK. From the beginning of time, women have had the same thirst for knowledge as men, but were denied access to education. This program looks at the religious attitudes that support these age-old convictions, and examines what the world has lost by excluding women from the intellectual loop. Scriptural scholar Elaine Pagels tells about newly discovered documents suggesting that women were equal to men in early Christianity. Historian Ginette Paris looks at the powerful goddesses of the past who were shunted aside in favor of the submissive image of the Virgin Mary. A Bangladeshi writer faces a death decree for writing about Islam's oppression of women. At Wellesley College and the University of Norway, we visit programs devoted exclusively to women's studies. Lems describes the ways music has influenced her classroom. She talks about how her students are adults in an English language course. Through out the article she explains how through music based activities, positive attitude and affect, listening comprehesion, and oral and pronunciation practice helped her students become bilingual.

This article written by Young speaks about how Vietnamese parents were given questionaires regarding the use of bilingual education in the San Diego City Schools. It goes on to speak about how parents agree that being bilingual will eventually help them later on in life, but learning their primary language is more important. Young teaches in his article the methods of this study, and he explains the data that was collected in very good detail, there are also many quick reading and helpful charts as well.

Oladejo writes this article speaking about foreign language education in Taiwan. It describes that the government is very appalling when it comes to getting input from the public that's concerns determining the language education in Taiwan. The process they use many a times has had complaints, and the public hopes for it to be better. There are many charts that Oladejo adds to his article with results of questionaires sent out to parents. Questionaires conclude many answers that parents have regarding when English should start being taught. The author also uses many other charts to show details in his work, and his article is very well put together.

This article was a study that examined nutritional education, label reading behavior, and compared these answers with age, sex, education level. The study was aimed to test label reading in correlation to previous nutritional education and knowledge level. This source had good statistics in the introduction. The paper may have been alittle off my topic but did have useful conslusions on to who reads the nutrtional labels. The test was mostly women, undergraduates, and nonsmokers, so may have been bias in people being studied.
