My favorite part of this article is how Picasso tells the viewer of cubism how to view it.

It shows where its influences came from and how they translated into what hip hop is today. It shows the founding fathers and the hoops they had to jump through in order to gain respect in the music industry.

Kitwana, Bakari. The Hip Hop Generation: Young Blacks and the Crisis in African American Culture. New York: Basic Civitas, 2002. Print. This book talks about how rap has negatively influenced young black kids. I think that this book is very important because this is a bit of a problem in the black community and I think that it needs to be addressed. Although hip-hop has positive factors, it has a lot of negative factors that deal with not only blacks, but all races. This book discusses a lot of important issues, and I think it provides a lot of good information.

Davis, Mary E. "Classical Chic: Music, Fashion, and Modernism". University of California Press. 2006. Print. This book is all about Classical Chic during the modernism movement. There are many different chapters including an entire chapter on Coco Chanel. The chapter started out by talking about she influenced the 1920s and the 1930s. How she turned around the fashion of the time. She kept the ideas of the "liberated women" and applied it to all of her work. It goes through each of her steps to how she became the iconic fashion designer she is today. Also, each of the types of article of clothing that made her so iconic. It then goes on to talk about how the label as taken over after her death.

Fawcett, Hilary. "Fashioning The Second Wave: Issues across Generations." Studies in the Literary Imagination. March 1975-2010. Hilary Fawcett discusses fashion and how it effected women rights. The styles of the nineteen-seventies greatly influenced the women's rights movement. Fawcett also explores the connection between fashion to how women are percieved; she describes the fashion of her generation in the 1960s and 1970s, to the style and fashion of young girls now. This article will help me describe styles from the seventies and compare them to styles today. It will also help me explain the amount of respect clothing can give off to the public, when women are wearing different trends.

This article focuses on a couple musicians Balilla Pratella and Luigi Russolo. It shows how these two artists worked to spread the movement.

Filippo Tommaso Marinetti's life and his contributions to Futurism in 1909 are discussed. Marinetti influenced many other artists to follow in his footsteps. Today art is now today has taken shape in the form of technology and not as much painting and art. I like the title because it describes the article well.

Straub, Anne. "Ruth Funk". Ornament. 2009. 33:1. 56-61. Anne Straub focuses on designer Ruth Funk who brings styles from the '70s into today's fashions. Straub explains that Ruth finds her inspiration from designs from the '70s movement, but brings her own personal style into it. This article proves that the '70s fashion movement still influences many designers today. Funk is even influenced by simple patterns from the '70s. This article will help me use examples of designers from today using patterns and styles from the '70s.

This article includes a brie history includint where Art Deco got its name, some founding designers and the previous artistic movements that founded Art Deco. There is a focus on the cost of an original Art Deco piece today- it could be anywhere up to 3 million dollars. The prices are so high due to the unique materials the art was made out of. The article mentions specific examples of major Art Deco art including the Chrysler Building. There is also mention of how Art Deco is in effect today as well as examplesof current designers.

Throughout the article a great deal of information is provided about the influence and inspiration Beethoven has had on eager, young composers. It discusses the many sonatas he has composed. This article is a collection of critiques on Beethoven's work and compositions over the years. His compositions are critiqued by a number of well-known pianist scholars. Beethoven was a German composer, who lived from 1795-1822.

This article talks about Beethoven's transition from the post-Classical period into the Romantic Era. His influence on both periods is also greatly discussed. An overview of Beethoven's life as a child and his adult years is also mentioned. Beethoven's music style and the originality of his work are discussed. Mozart and Haydn, other composers of the Romantic Era, are critiqued in this article along with Beethoven.

This USA today magazine article provides imformation on the artistic works of Salvador Dali and his impact on surrealism. It also includes his artistic influences on his painting and the many exhibitions for his paintings.It talks about one exhibition in particular in which 150 of Dali's paintings were displayed along with his other works such as sculptures and writings. It was the largest grouping of his works ever. It also gives a good background and Bio of the artist.

The author first puts Naturalism and Impressionism into the landscape of Positivistic cultural movement in the mid 19century. In particular, it tells the readers about the different themes of impressionism and the research behind them, which included the mention of Claude Monet. Also, it talks about the tone and influence behind certain works of both the literary and artistic aspect.

It then goes into what the goals of the Impressionists were and how they sought to complete these goals. For example, to catch a particular landscape scene, Impressionists would paint until the colors changed, and then return another day when the colors were the same. It also talks about the various influences of the impressionists and gives many painting examples of the movement.
