ENGL307: Digital Writing

This was a fun, easy to follow video on the elements of design, with examples of each.  Very interesting video!

This You Tube video goes over the concept of unity. It goes over the different components that are involved in creating unity. It helped my learn more about unity because there are examples of unity and the person is talking about the different images.

I like this resource because it takes a lot of the ideas we have already looked at and approaches them from a composition & layout perspective. We have seen what each is and what they do; this provides some depth into what each can do/does for the composition of a text. (10/5/13)

A video about isometric perspective and how it is used in architectural design in a fast sketch.

The work done in this video is crazy! A great example of isometric perspective. Check it out! 

I thought this little blog was very useful for understanding rule of thirds as it applies to photography. I was already familiar with the rule from my photography class in high school and I find it is easier to understand in that context as opposed to the digital drawing arena. Basically, because I understand it in the photography context, it allows me to better understand it the way it has been presented in the text.

This is great information on the topic of color vision and how the eyes and brain work to allow us to perceive color.

This video on Youtube breaks down the evolution and broadness of the term interactivity and is actually pretty entertaining.

I wanted to find another site with a more in depth explanation and found one with totally new elements that can be used to improve layout and design. Most of these examples I have never heard of besides focal point and grid design, but you can never know too many new ways in order to improve your delivery, right?

These are some cool examples of geometric shapes being used in web design. My favorite is the Yuna website. I don't know why, but I have a thing for really simple designs that use basic geometric shapes. I think there's beauty in simplicity.

I bookmarked this site because it gives all the elements of design. It gives definitions and links to examples and resources. I also made this one my favorite because it explains all the elements and not just what we discussed this week as well as it a very easy site to use.

This is a website with examples of what people with normal vision see versus people with colorblindness. I thought it was interesting based on our color readings since there was no mention of it there.

I thought this video was interesting because it shows how to use the color wheel. I didn't know that you should put yellow on top of the color wheel. I thought that was cool.

I thought this was a great tutorial on how to use photoshop to add texture to your photos.

Here is another photoshop tutorial. I thought this was interesting how this person used color with this editing program.

This website gives a phenominal overview and summary of what value is in design and what it can do. There are also deisgn theories explained, along with helpful definitions within value and color.

I thought this was a really cool way to incorporate what we read about this week into the real world and see how it is used in a children's museum to help the kids be more interested in science and things.

A cool little video that talks more about conceptual unity when it is used in design. I like the images and how the information is broken down.

I wanted to know more about the use of grids and how often they are used in design so I found this website that helps designers with possible grid layouts. There is so much here to see and process that the website itself is set on a grid like design.
