Phil Davis, the writer of this impact entry, questions the sustainability of, what he calls, AO Mega Journals. AO Megas are journals that have no real content area to focus on, are generally open access, and prove an alternative to traditional publication. He believes that the impact factors and decline in citations of the site may cause concern for people looking to publish their work. He also addresses the issue of smaller, more meticulous, and content focused journals. This article was written in 2010, and although PLoS One didn't experience the slow deflation of the "citation bubble," (it is still considered the larges scholarly journal), he makes good points on the adavantages and disadvantages of using the "large blob."

In China scientist are rewarded with cash for publishing an article in a prestigious general. The more prestigious the journal, the larger the sum. So because of the limited international circulation of Chinese journals, there is a real push to have one's work appear in an international index, such as the science citation index, Engineering index, or the index to scientific & technical proceedings. The author of this article Does the Chinese Model Make Sense, Phil Davis, questions wither or not this model is authentic. He believes that the need for money will eventually exceed the need to produce valid, and original work. Davis is able to justify is argument by mentioning previous works that were written by the chinese that had an extreme amount of plagerism and unoriginal work. From this evidence he was able to persuade readers that the Chinese Model did not make sense nor did it have any valid points. His commentary was a critque of the article The outflow of academic papers from China: Why it happening and can it be stemmed, written by Shao Jufang and Shen Huiyun.

This information page on the NEH website is meant to explain the purpose of the Office of Digital Humanities within the National Endowment for the Humanities. It explains the impact that digital technology has had on how scholars do their work and explains that the ODH is meant to "support projects that employ digital technology to improve humanities research." This is done through government grants to those projects that the office sees as most deserving of aid in improving their work. The ODH also collaborates with the scholars and librarians in the DH field through conferences and workshops.

A Canadian school principle created a website for other principles about why social media is important in the teaching of modern students. The principles write blogs that discuss different types of social medias and how they can be incorporated into practical ways in schools. They want to impact the student's learning with the parents help and this can be done through social medias.

Bethany Nowviskie's article proposes an overhaul of modern graduate studies by replacing aging practices and methods of education with more modern and technology appropriate forms of education. One of Nowviskie's key points of criticism it that many of these more traditional forms of graduate education are producing humanities PhDs who do not fully understand how modern universities work and are impacted by the outside world. Nowviskie's main proposal for beginning to replace these aging methods is through the cooperation of funding agencies and respected humanities organizations, ones with a good history of inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration, to utilize grants to reshape graduate studies.

Dene Grigar developed a way to allow digital media scholars to combine their work from different areas of studies. She found that it helped scholars work together and easily understand other's work. This program gives hands on experience for students that teach them that creating a website is more in depth and can potentially impact the modern society. They also need to understand that each students background is combined and implemented with different teaching methods to create a digital media course.

Peerj offers three different types of memberships, each with their own advantages and restrictions, but all are for life. They emphasis that they do not publish based on possible "impact" or "interest," but focus on scientific soundness. They also offers "No questions asked" waivers for people in certain countries.

These projects help us better understand the central problems in the humanities, and they also raise new questions in the humanities which help develop new digital applications and approaches for the use in the humanities. The digital humanities Implementation Grants programs seeks to identify projects that have successfully completed their startup phase and are well positioned to have a major impact. These grants involve, Implementation of computationally bases methods or techniques for humanities research; implantation of new digital tools for use in humanities research; implementation of new digital tools for use in humanities research, public programming, or educational settings; efforts to ensure the completion and long-term sustainability of existing digital resources; studies that examine the philosophical or practical implications of the use of emerging technologies in specific fields or disciplines of the humanties, or in interdisciplinary collaborations involving several fields or disciplines; or implementation of new digital modes of scholarly communication that facilitate peer review, collaboration, or the dissemination of humanities scholarship for various audiences.

BMJ is an open online, open access general medical journal, dedicated to publishing medical research from all disciplines and the therapeutic areas. The journal publishes a wide variety of different types of studies, from protocols, to phase 1 trail, to meta-analyses, including small or potentially low impact studies. The publishing procedures are fully open peer review and continuous publication which allows research to published online as soon as the article is ready. BMJ main goal is to promote transperency in the publication process by publishing reviewer reports and previous versions of manuscripts as pre-publication histories.
