Not only does wasting food hurt our wallets but now we find out that it waste our energy too. The Texas University estimates that if America would stop wasting food altogether(by some sort of magic) that they would save 2 percent of its annual energy!!!

While reading this article I have realized many companies have been going the Eco- friendly route. On the way to work I saw the VA hospital have solar panels on the overheads in the parking lot. I also see a lot of churches installing solar panels.

I love the comments made in this article. I agree with the author when she states that people have to look at the solar panels as part of the system on the building and not as something added on.

I thought that this article was very interesting because it relates to the 10 myths as well. The article is about when bigger countries, such as the U.S. and Europe who decided to move to sustainable growing techniques. The one thing wrong wtih sustainable growing is that we have less to export to poorer countries in need of low cost mass produced foods.

Ira Sager the journalist of the this article talks about how much money is wasted because of food waste. She goes on to say how many pounds of food is wasted. The number one thing that is thrown away is food scrapes, not plastic or paper. Those food scrapes we could be composting. She stated that wasting food is a cultural habit. We are use to doing it and it is culturally acceptable. Breaking this awful food waste habit then there is going to have to be an adjustment in our society. Also she talks about how many people think the government needs to get involved and do something about food waste.

A really cool and smart thing that can make waste useful two times over. Not only by making it into a compost but also by using it to produce electrical energy. Europe is already using these techniques and it is nice to know that we, America, are following suite.

All the waste that has been going on only means that more energy is lost in the form of food than is stored in all the nation's offshore oil and gas reserves. Food waste isn't just harmful to our environment but we're also buring more energy than we can produce.

I thought this was very interesting. Author Christopher Koetke speaks about the imoprtance of food sustanability, most imoprtantly he mentions that countries around the world are teaching about the importance of food waste. Finally everyone has agreed that food sustainability is a big issue and we have to take action today for the future generations.
