This article describes how some legislators are trying to pass drug testing for TANF applicates. Florida has already passed the law and feel that it is unfair for taxpayers to subsidize drug addictions. I am a firm believer in this and think that it should be mandated.

This was a really interesting article! I never would have thought to parallel drug use with sports. However, I guess it makes sense when you think about the amount of athletes who use steroids to boost their game.

Welfare recipients get drug tested - 1 views

Drug Testing Welfare Recipients - 0 views

  •
A brief overview of the drug testing experiment of welfare recipient in three states and a brief reflection on history of charities and events.
  •
This is great idea but I have to agree that it is an invasion of privacy. Also stereotyping. If you drug test all welfare applicants then it is part of the process, just as you are drug tested for employment. I agree that many abuse the system but not because they are drug users but because they know how to get away with it.

Eninem Lyrics-Drug Ballad - 0 views

While there are some parts that seem to show that doing drugs is a bad idea it is mainly most of the following: As ecstasy got me standing next to you, Getting sentimental as fuck spillin' guts to you We just met But I think I'm in love with you But you're on it too So you tell me you love me too Wake up in the morning like "yo, what the fuck we do?" I gotta go bitch You know I have stuff to do 'Cause if I get caught cheatin' then I'm stuck with you But in the long run These drugs are probably going to catch up sooner or later But fuck it, I'm on one So let's enjoy Let the X destroy your spinal cord

Do we have the right to say NO to drugging our children? - 0 views

  •
As parents do we have the right to say "NO" to drugging our children? I found this article to be very informative. This article suggests that we as parents need to question the responses given to us by our doctors. There are many cases of misdiagnosis. In some states there are schools that have rules in place if your child is diagnosed with ADHD and ADD they are required to take Ritalin. If you "opt out" the school can tell you not to bring your child to school anymore! Considering I have a child they are trying to get me to medicate, this issue hit home for me. There are many recorded deaths that have occurred as a result of taking this drug. That is a chance I am not willing to take.

The Law On Assisted Suicide | The Kevorkian Verdict | FRONTLINE | PBS - 0 views

  •
Only one state, Oregon, has legalized assisted suicide. The Oregon statute, which went into effect in October 1997, provides that a doctor may prescribe, but not administer, a lethal dose of medication to a patient who has less than six months to live. Two doctors must agree that the patient is mentally competent and that the decision was voluntary. As of April 1999, 23 patients were given drugs under the statute, and 15 of them used the drugs to commit suicide. A report released by the Oregon state Health Division reviewing the first year of the law's implementation found that the law was working well and had not been subject to abuse.
