    Major Mary Jennings Hegar had always dreamed of being an airforce pilot, and now that she is, she has faced discrimination because of the exclusionary policy. A policy that excludes women from doing certain jobs because they aren't seen as being capable of them. Women in the military are fighting everyday to get rid of these double standards.

    it isn't new to the media circuit, but chick-fil-a doesn't support gay marriage. Gay rights groups and rallying against the restaraunt saying that if you support their busines you're supporting hate. There's people on both sides of the fence, but chick-fil-a was actually seeing a boost in sales after this "controversy."

    The Catholic church is openly against Obama's birth control mandate, even though a mjority of women in the Catholic church use and support birth control. In an attempt to take a shot at Obama, they aired an ad against his birth control mandate saying that it infringes upon their freedom of religion.

    a group of senators are going "rogue" an bidding against certain provisions of NDAA 2012. Stating that indefinite detention will be too similar to internment camps of WWII. They don't want the country to take a step backwards if it isn't necessary.

    About a year ago, a film came out showcasing the ins and out of the medical marijuana industry, a year later, many of the people in the film were idicted on federal drug charges and were given years in prison, one even died. The sad part? Most of these people lived in states where their profession is legal.

'Dreamers' Convene to Celebrate-and Embrace Parents . - 0 views

    Kansas City, MO has passed legislation to allow anyone who is under the age of 31, was brought here before the age of 16, is in school or the military, and has no criminal record to live here without any reprecussions. They are not eligible for a visa, greencard, etc, but can renew their application every two years. This is considered to be a huge victory, but they want the same rights for their parents.

    a battle is insuing in Pennsylvania between a two groups who have very different views on gun control. A law was passed allowing visitors to carry concealed based on their own state's laws, and the new attorney general-elect has joined a coalition to try to block this legislation.

    The supreme court needs to decide whether or not to take on more than 10 opened cases regarding discrimination against same-sex couples. They must decide if rights for same-sex couple are actually a fundamental constitutional issue.

    Mayor Bloomberg(New York) banned all sugared soft drinks in containers over 16 ounces, because they are thought to be the main cause of obesity. People are outraged, not because they can't have soft drinks, but because a grown adult should be able to make their own decisions.
