Oklahoma recently signed a new bill stating that all new applicants for welfare are required to submit a drug test. Children and underage parents will not have to submit to a drug screen. Applicants who fail the test are able to get drug treatment and reapply in 6 months.

During the election, Missouri passed legislation stating that anyone receiving state benefits must pass a drug test. If recipients fail to pass a drug screening, they lost benefits for three years.

Proposal for a mandated drug screen to determine if individuals will be given welfare. So far 7 states have adopted this proposal and there should be many more states in the future to follow.

Republicans in New Hampshire proposed a bill that residents must pass a drug test before receiving welfare. The applicants themselves would have to pay 45$ for screening. Passers will get a refund and those who fail will be blocked from the service for a year.
