This is a great resource for creating centers and improving reading instruction. Although this is not an interactive website, it is very user friendly. The website can be searched by grade level or by reading component. You can print out the resources, laminate them and save yourself a lot of time for making center activities.

The Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) is a multidisciplinary research center at Florida State University. FCRR explores all aspects of reading research-basic research into literacy-related skills for typically developing readers and those who struggle, studies of effective prevention and intervention, and psychometric work on formative assessment.

Wow! A great resourse for technology and education: books and resources on the latest tech gadgets and what they can be used for, technology integration recommendations, and even a reading list for professional growth as an educator. A must-see page.

In The National Geographic Kids Blog, a group of kids selected by the National Geographic staff share their thoughts and experiences. This is a great blog for kids to follow and be able to read about things that interest them and what other kids think. Teachers can use this as a resource to introduce kids to safe and educational places on the internet that are interesting to them as well. I found this in the "Online Safety" section of Kids.gov, accessed via the publisher companion site of our textbook.

Earobics provides a research based, comprehensive reading intervention program that helps improve reading proficiency, reading skills, and reading comprehension.

Power my Learning is a website dedicated to providing Teachers, Studenst and Parents with additional tech resources in all subjects and grade levels. You can watch videos, click on your grade level or subject area and find activities and games, and even read teacher blogs.

The "7 Things You Should Know About..." series provide quick reads with concise information about emerging technologies and practices. The Campus-Wide IT section addresses professional challenges in higher education, while the Learning Technology section discusses individual technologies or practices. I could bookmark at least a dozen of these relevant articles (microlectures, social content curation, educational design research, e-readers, cloud computing, and so on), which is why I'm saving the main page instead.

This website offers free, interactive resources online featuring Latin & Greek root-based activities at grade levels. It was listed as an instructional resource on the Florida Department of Education website.

This site provides interactive and fun ways for students to practice and learn new vocabulary words via games, puzzles, and crosswords. It is suitable for students from high elementary grades through college!

FCRR has great resources and activities for use in the classroom. I use many of their activities during reading centers and intervention.

Lit2Go is a free online collection of stories and poems in Mp3 (audiobook) format. An abstract, citation, playing time, and word count are given for each of the passages. Many of the passages also have a related reading strategy identified.

I loved using this site to help my students practice skills in reading and math prior to completing science practice. Unfortunately the science test is testing reading comprehension as much as it tests science. If students are great at hands on experiments but cannot associate a paragraph of written material to the hands on activity, then they will not do well on FCAT Science. FCAT Explorer will help with those skills prior to science lessons.

FCAT Explorer is a free, online educational program for Florida's students that reinforces reading and math skills outlined in the Sunshine State Standards.

Isn't FCAT going away?

As a beginning teacher this website helped me form center activities for my students. It gives you everything you need or it tells you what to get to make the activity complete. Just print cut and laminate! Great resource to get centers started and then just change out once kids are gaining mastery.

At The Stacks, students can post book reviews, get reading recommendations, play games based on the latest series, watch " Meet the Author" videos, and more. It's like Facebook for reading and it's safe for school, too. Use Book Wizard to level your classroom library, find resources for the books you teach, and create reading lists with the click of a button.

Think of Netflix for Education video and you've got SAFARI Montage. With entire video libraries (All of Reading Rainbow and Bill Nye the Science Guy for example ) available locally at a school or centrally via the district, SAFARI Montage will allow you to create custom play lists, clips and lessons you can show your students with engaging and safe video materials.
