The topic of future trends in technology for schools involves an incredible amount of inherent change, especially in reference to technology capabilities. This site is an introduction to many of the aspects of technology change that will impact education in the next few years. The goal of the site is to give administrators a glimpse into the rich technology resources available on the Web. Using this site for "just-in-time" references to issues that all administrators will or are currently facing, will assist districts in managing change through research and understanding.  Some current pivotal issues include a clear understanding of possible affects of technology tools will have on learning styles, facilities planning, student achievement, budgeting, and teacher preparation.

Textivate is a web application that allow you to generate interactive browser based activities on text up to 500 words. You can produce phrases or word cards. You ca use it for sequencing.

This article highlights several free online resources that can be used to enhance project-based learning for students. Resources such as Google Docs and Dropbox may be widely known already in this class, but others include LiveMinutes, ShowMe, and GimmeBar. I found this on Education World via the publisher companion site to our textbook.

Recently, the popular press has pointed to increasing evidence of misuse and abuse of emerging technologies in U.S. schools. Some examples include using Web sites to intimidate or threaten students, downloading music illegally from the Internet, plagiarizing information using the Internet, using cellular phones during class time, and playing games on laptops or handhelds during class. TeachersFirst is a rich collection of lessons, units, and web resources designed to save teachers time by delivering just what they need in a practical, user-friendly, and ad-free format. Busy teachers, parents, and students can find resources using our robust search tools.

This site has how to videos for many of the sites I have seen mentioned. There are 5-min clips of how to set up and use the different applications that we find on the web but don't necessarily know how to get started on. I watched a couple of these, but especially liked the one about KidBlog and Animoto.

Edublog Awards Winners 2011. Lists winner and several runners up for various student, teacher, class, library, ed tech, and administrator blogs. Also recognizes other categories such as best mobile app, free web tool, most influential blog post, educational wiki, open PD/webinar series, and use of a social network. I would recommend using this page for resources and ideas for creating your own educational blog.

The FLDOE website is so full of information sometimes navigation can be a challenge. I liked this list of Florida fieldtrip resources. Many have free teacher resources.

I know field trips are not as easy to organize these days, but here's a link of Florida field trip locations I found on the DoE web site. A lot of these locations have pretty cool interactive web sites that offer "digital field trips" which could be an alternative.
