This has been in Beta for a while but they have a pretty good free version available. This allows for online question response and instant feedback like a set of classroom clickers some of us use. It works well and is free so check it out.
Socrative lets teachers engage and assess their students with educational activities on tablets, laptops and smartphones. Through the use of real time questioning, instant result aggregation and visualization, teachers can gauge the whole class' current level of understanding. The Smithsonian website is an educational that provides links and activities for both educators and students. This site provides educational content for educators which they can easily access and use within their classrooms. It provides videos, interactive games and additional links for students to navigate their way through in order to gain a greater understanding of history and art. It is a great site that can truly help enhance to overall content of one's lesson.
Every time I introduce rubrics to a group of teachers the reaction is the same - instant appeal ("Yes, this is what I need!") followed closely by panic ("Good grief, how can I be expected to develop a rubric for everything?").
The site provides a Dewey Decimal Search for kids where they are able to click on an area and the find links related to the particular subject they are looking for. This could be helpful for a Media teacher to incorporate into his/her class.
