Students can publish their writing! I have noticed an increase of motivation: one, they have to go through the steps of the writing process to log on to KidBlog because they only use it to publish and two, students truly think about their writing because their peers will be reading and commenting in on it. You can also open up their blogs for the world to view and comment! I cannot say enough great things about this site.

I just discovered this site! This allows all needed participants to enter times that they would be available for an event. I think it would be great for team meetings or parent conferences. You create an event and then email it to the participants.

I have used this in the classroom before and think that it has some great information on historical events put in terms younger children will understand.

I know other people have posted Ben's Guide, but here's the K-2 section of the web site, which includes games and activities, as well as additional links and resources for the students. I particularly like the subtopic about "My Neighborhood," as it is relevant to what I will be teaching my students in my own classroom and I love supplemental material!

This site has many resources and ideas on how to use technology in the classroom. It mentions things like Twitter and how to implement mobile devices. With this day and age, I think this might be useful! I particularly like the links to K-2 resources!

This is good stuff, I think I can use this in class, have to do further investigation but I like it!

This brief article is an early work by Dr. Ian Bogost related to what he would later refer to as "procedural rhetoric." In this piece Dr. Bogost draws parallels between various processes essential to being "literate" at different points in history. With what "processes" do we need to become literate as educators in the 21st century? How can we help others become literate?

This sounds a lot like learning by doing. If students can't experience battle re-enactments, or visit musuems and historical sites, or travel to parks, or act out a story, technology might afford those luxuries. Computers, iPads, even smart phones can provide virtual field trips and experiences. Students can further share these experiences through social networking. As an older generation, I feel it necessary to keep learning how today's youth are communicating so I will be able to connect with them and bridge that gap in their education.

Not a fan of Diamond, but I did like Guns, Germs, and Steel. As it relates to learning, I do agree that there is great benefit in constructing your learning. I imagine a day when we will be able to choose from a vast assortment of resources that will allow us to illustrate specific terms or concepts and from those resources we can build knowledge, sort of like a Lego model.

You may be thinking it is just a magazine but it is also the cutting edge, and beyond, of technology information. I learn more about technology and subsequently my students by reading this above all else.

The website also posts a series of interactive science animations and the ever-popular "Cool Science Images," a series of Teacher Activity Pages linked to the national science teaching standards, The Weather Guys, and Curiosities. I think this is a cool resource!

Online pinboard site that can be used to organize different topics.  Can be great for getting ideas for lesson/unit planning.

Thanks, Amy! I just started using Pinterest for teaching ideas. I saw an awesome Tiki-Hut U-table! Makes me think to make my guided reading and math groups a lot more fun! I love how pinterest has the pictures.

What kind of social media are graduate students using to enhance their education? They may have different goals from your standard K-12 student as they want to focus on networking, connections, and employment opportunities. So you'd think they'd flock to LinkedIn right?

This Website helps to learn and practice basic math functions including algebra, problem resolution skills, as well as methods of teaching students who feel frustrated with math. I think that this site provides enough information to learn and develop the skills of students in mathematics. Students can learn through private lessons individual or through a collective use of videos and with a forum for discussion with the experts.

Modern technology is amazing! Millions of people are revolutionizing the internet. Paper books are becoming obsolete and students are texting and collaborating like never before. Group communication between students and teachers has minimized classwork and has elaborated testing for all concerned. Now tests are immediately scored and feedback is given at an astounding rate.

A new survey of early childhood educators shows they think technology can play a positive role in children's learning. But they need support in order to make use of new tools in their classrooms. We are on the cusp of tremendous changes in early childhood education as technology introduces new opportunities for learning and teaching.

Interesting..but I think a little controversial.
