I have used this in the classroom before and think that it has some great information on historical events put in terms younger children will understand.

I know other people have posted Ben's Guide, but here's the K-2 section of the web site, which includes games and activities, as well as additional links and resources for the students. I particularly like the subtopic about "My Neighborhood," as it is relevant to what I will be teaching my students in my own classroom and I love supplemental material!

Using the iPad in the classroom - this article discusses History specifically, but could definitely be modified for any subject. Also, provides links for digital textbooks, which are most likely the wave of the future classroom.

Good article on the need to develop/ sustain an interest in "how technology works," through technology education targeted at early high school students. The Australian Computer Society, mentioned in the article, "strives for ICT to be recognised as a driver of innovation in our society . . . ." A great post that reminds readers about the transcendence of narrative writing across genres (and across subjects!) The teacher uses historical and science fiction as inspiration for her ELA students' writing projects, but ideas, such as the "What if . . ." digital presentation project she mentions from Larry Ferlazzo could be used in almost any subject. The author's ideas for having students prove their informational research are also very helpful. I loved reading the post, too. Her, "Nobody puts baby in a corner," quote made me laugh out loud.

Some tips to use video in the classroom. Also outlines the costs for the resources. It's always good to know what's free or has a trial period before you look up the actual resource!

This is a great resource! I have an interactive whiteboard and the students love listening/viewing the online stories. I think it also shows a positive message from famous actors that reading is important. Thanks for sharing!

This website is provided through the Screen Actors Guild foundation. Stories are read by actors. There are about 25 stories geared more for younger children. They provide options to comment on the stories or buy the books.

The Science Spot is a one stop shop for free lesson plans, resources, worksheets, hands on activities and numerous other resources. If you teach science this site should be on the top of your favorites list. The quality of the materials and resources on this site are excellent and best of all it is free. 

The invention of the tablet PC has created a new medium for book publishing. Interactive books are everywhere, and have revolutionized the way people consume the printed word. With the recent software available to allow easy creation of interactive books and with the race to bring these products to market, there seems to be a more and more dilution of quality and a loss for the meaning of interactivity.

The "7 Things You Should Know About..." series provide quick reads with concise information about emerging technologies and practices. The Campus-Wide IT section addresses professional challenges in higher education, while the Learning Technology section discusses individual technologies or practices. I could bookmark at least a dozen of these relevant articles (microlectures, social content curation, educational design research, e-readers, cloud computing, and so on), which is why I'm saving the main page instead.

"This official site of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. features links to each of the Smithsonian's museums and their exhibitions, as well as special online resources in art and design, history and culture, and science and technology." I love this site because the student can through this Site Search any branch of the Museum of Smithsonian. Also this site the student can identify and look at the audience and other cultures to recognize it at first hand. The teacher can use this site to explain other cultures and civilizations to be presented to students in an interesting way to increase the knowledge of students.

In the Academe, technology has to be studied as one of the essential modes of being human. We have to guide our students to be digitally wise and to attain digital wisdom. There is a real multiplication of the dimensions of the human being, when Singularity is more and more near. We deal with a whole set of different identities [plural (?), multiple (?), alternative (?), concurrent (?), divergent (?), virtualising (?)

This site has how to videos for many of the sites I have seen mentioned. There are 5-min clips of how to set up and use the different applications that we find on the web but don't necessarily know how to get started on. I watched a couple of these, but especially liked the one about KidBlog and Animoto.

A brief study of the current usage of the word "curate." This word has become popular especially among those interested in so-called 21st Century learning/skills. What information do you "curate," and for whom do you present it?

I curate everything for my child, and for my students....apps, websites, games, field trips, resources, books; anything i know they could use and benefit from and enjoy. I also curate info on plants, especially native and edible ones, and how to grow and preserve them, and present it to whoever is interested. I really could "curate" a lot of things, being the resourceful person that I am...but I wouldn't want to come across as a know it all, trying only to speak when I know the info would be appreciated.
