What does the future of education look like? Dr. Charles Reigeluth provides an interesting vision for the future of education - that is already here in some school systems, according to Reigeluth and Karnopp, in their book, Reinventing Schools.  The future of education looks bright!

Great website for K-6 Educators for enrichment and supplemental materials for Science and Social Studies. Students can use the site to explore information that is formatted in a fun and easy-to-read way. Or, they can use the site to play games, take quizzes, look at photos and maps, look up crafts and recipes, enter contests, and more. Teachers can use the site to project on an interactive whiteboard for quizzes and whole-class games. I like the site because it is culturally-rich and informative, yet kid-friendly.

Florida has new teaching certification renewal requirements as of July 2014.

Are you looking to renew your Florida Educator Certificate? Make sure you check out this section and look for new requirements constantly. Renewal requirements must be completed during the last validity period of the Professional Certificate and prior to expiration of the Professional Certificate.

There is a proposal for all Florida schools to do away with textbooks and use digital devices such as ipad, kindles, etc... Clearwater High School and several other high schools around the State are currently experimenting with this new innovative concept.

I think this is a good and bad idea, I love the fact that students can use the technology, but what about students in areas that can't take advantage of these tablets. Also sometimes it is a bother to try and explain why we only have enough for one group and not the other. Now if we can get enough for everyone in all areas, then I am for it. Bottom line great! post, its really something to look forward to.

Looking for a way to incorporate Facebook into the classroom but can't because of your filter? This website offers a way for students to create their own Facebook accounts not for themselves, but for historical figures. Take a look at some of the pages created for Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and many others! Students can browse or create their own! What a great way to get their imaginations going on an historical topic!

Not good at IPA? Look at the word "cheloniidae" at this link, try to pronounce it, then hit submit. 

This article looks at gaming on a variety of levels and offers interesting stats (i.e.,"42% of gamers are women . . . (representing) a greater portion of the game-playing population than boys 17 or younger.") No wonder the White House is interested.

Can learn about research studies in progress or look at specific categories such as ELL, teacher quality, Math, etc...
