The Web site may be utilized to learn about new techniques, improve processes, create new programs, make current programs more effective and enhance outreach. This site also offers an opportunity for users to access information on successful programs/strategies and share knowledge. I thought this was interesting since last week a lot of our complaints were the budget. I am still searching through the 320 page document, but it seems that our request for technology went down this year from last! Like Dr. K said though, "don't complain about what you can't change!"

The purpose of the professional development system is to increase student achievement, enhance classroom instructional strategies that promote rigor and relevance throughout the curriculum, and prepare students for continuing education and the workforce. Professional learning is the result of the individual's commitment to improvement.

This is an interesting look into the process our test-makers and standard-setters go through when evaluating content requirements of the FSA and determining what makes a "passing" score. I would give anything to have been able to participate in this panel! I can't imagine what kind of insight those attending back in 2015 received about the "mysterious" FSA test.

One great way to incorporate technology in the classroom is to have a focus on STEM learning. FLDOE provides a "teacher toolkit"for grades k-5 with resources to help incorporate STEM into standard based instruction. Including direct links to online learning activities.

Florida educators must be certified to teach in our public schools and in many of our private schools. Being the "Teacher friend" in the group you always get asked for the certification process, this has all the information needed and I know I've used it plenty of times.

This is part of the FlDOE website. The problem with the site is it vast. When you log in navigating is not impossible just more complex due to the amount of information on the site. I selected this link because it takes you directly to the FCAT links and resources offered by the DOE.

I thought this was interesting. By using the FLDOE website, you can search for your district and see what their District Plan is for the year. I know we have been introduced to it in my school, but this goes into depth. It's great to know what you are working towards.

The FLDOE website is so full of information sometimes navigation can be a challenge. I liked this list of Florida fieldtrip resources. Many have free teacher resources.

I know field trips are not as easy to organize these days, but here's a link of Florida field trip locations I found on the DoE web site. A lot of these locations have pretty cool interactive web sites that offer "digital field trips" which could be an alternative.

The item specifications part of the FLDOE website has been critical to prepare my students for FCA's and FCAT. If you find the item specification you can read to find out which pieces of information are tested. I try not to exclude data, but to ensure I cover the material being tested thoroughly. One example are states of matter teach three states or four states? Plasma is a state of matter not tested until high school. I include it to provoke thought, but I do not make it the main focus of my sixth grade lessons.

FloridaVCM provides many digital curriculum resources to teachers, registration seems to be required. Many digital learning experiences can be purchased by teachers, and some resources seem to be free (once you register).
