This site offered great information on media ratings. I have used this in middle school open house as a closing to remind parents that the ratings are on the box for a reason. I also let them know that what their students "play" at home shows up in school in there writing assignments, art work and converstaions. I was able to request bookmarks on year at a very low cost.

Student Journal - 1 views

  •
This is an interesting site that could be used for students to do self-journal assignments. There would no longer be a need for bulky notebooks or binders, as the journal site would replace such. Teachers can set up a class and have administrative access to grade/comment on the student journal entries. I have not used this, but it looks like it could be a great tool.

Technology Tools for Teachers - 0 views

  •
Take classroom discussions online, where some students might feel freer and more comfortable in some ways to ask questions and respond to each other, and where there's no bell to end the discussion period. (Blog posts can even be made into a homework assignment - as an online journal of sorts - or part of a class participation requirement.)

    "Create a Rubric"
  •
I love this site. I used this last year for classwork, homework and projects. One of the difficult parts of teaching is assuring that students are graded fairly on assignments. Grading projects is a snap with a good rubric. Not sure what to fill in to make a rubric, no problem. Rubristar has pre-made rubrics you can use. ;)

Transforming Education with Technology - 0 views

I could not have said this any better!! "... In the past, online learning has tended to be isolating and less participatory and has been distinct from using technology in the classroom. But going forward, interactions will be key. Just as people engage in online interactions-around virtual sports teams, cooking, or whatever-students will be able to engage in participatory learning experiences online in and out of the classroom" My previous online classes I felt really alone. There was no collaboration except for group assignment. We all had a name but no identity. However, in today's learning environment, online learning is anything but boring and lonely. There are endless ways to connect. Being able to connect with classmates/peers and share information can be very rewarding. .

What Task? | Literacy Design Collaborative - 0 views

  •
LDC "teaching tasks" are the meaningful reading and writing assignments that teachers "teach" and students "do" to demonstrate they have learned college and career skills. LDC teaching tasks define what students will be asked to do and know: the challenging content and CCRS-aligned literacy skills that become the heart of the LDC module.
