Simulations for Fun and Profit - 0 views

  •
Simulations for Fun and Profit by David A. Mallette, Instructional Systems Technologist NOTE: The video and simulation both require Flash and adequate bandwidth. As mentioned here, we have discontinued web distribution of our training in favor of local launch, server authenticated systems of our own design due to bandwidth and latency issues on the Internet that are not likely to be resolved for a long time. The video is compressed enough for 500kpbs or so throughput and the simulation will run in less. By the mid 90s, simulation was the place to be for those on the cutting edge of technical training. A variety of raster-based, multi-tasking computer platforms were available that could provide real-time, free-play simulations of complex machines. Whoops. I've probably lost a bunch of you right there at "raster." I'll explain.

Video as a learning tool: A mixed blessing? - 1 views

  •
Video as a learning tool: A mixed blessing? Do you think the use of video during the instructional process helps or distracts the learner? Is video a mixed blessing? In our world of e-Learning, video has become an important element in the eLearning process as, according to research, visual demonstration of something new can lead to successful results. Yet, many eLearning developers hesitate to use this powerful tool. But is this hesitation an unfounded fear? http://elearningindustry.com/video-as-a-learning-tool-a-mixed-blessing

Camtasia Studio for E-learning: Common Myths Exposed - 0 views

  •
One of the greatest struggles I see with Instructional Designers is trying decide which rapid authoring tool to purchase and spend their limited time learning. Generally, it's a choice between Articulate, Captivate and Camtasia Studio with Camtasia running a distant third (unless software demos make up the bulk of the training). In the past I would have agreed that Camtasia would not have been my first choice for true e-learning but with the two most recent releases of this software I've found it to be the perfect tool for not just software demos but also soft skills and compliance training. If you'd like to see some of the e-learning I've developed with Camtasia Studio over the past couple of years Please join me, Camtasia specialist Lon Naylor and Elearningindustry.com/ site founder Christopher Pappas on Sept 25th for a free Webinar called "Camtasia Studio 8 E-learning Case Studies". The Agile Approach to Learning Game Design - 0 views

  •
The Agile Approach to Learning Game Design Corporate learning professionals, instructional designers, trainers and eLearning pros… listen up. I want to let you in on a little secret: Game-based learning requires a whole new approach to learning design. It's not the same as eLearning development, and it's definitely not a set of skills you can pick up at an in-service day. The ADDIE approach to learning and development simply does not work with games. You have to go Agile instead. http://elearningindustry.com/the-agile-approach-to-learning-game-design
