Project Lanes has re-emerged on the JISC website, embedded in a presentation by Greg Newton-Ingham, another ex-eLibber who is self-employed - Greg is now doing interesting things in data mining. The re-emergence of Project Lanes is bad I get no attribution (not a problem, seriously), but good as it means Greg can take any awkward questions It is downloadable from here, and the Project Lanes part is from slides five to 21. Gosh, that was a memory trip. The rest of the slides, by Greg, are also well worth a read. “Not part of the coffee room set.” - yes, that will bring back a few “Them and us” memories to eLib project staff working in universities.

Slides offers an interesting twist on the online presenter genre... literally. The presentation can roll in many directions like a virtual cube allowing multi-track presentations. The site uses html5, so it works on most computers and devices. Editing is simple and you can share or embed your creations easily. http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ICT+%26+Web+Tools

This is my personal dumping ground for various cool quotes, the odd stat, as slides to talk around when describing how things are changing online and in media & communications generally. They're in no particular order. I create them as much for fun as anything as I'm fascinated by this whole field. If you hover your mouse over the set pics it'll bring up the name of the file, so you can see what it's about without having to click into it. When I add new slides they go to the start to make them easier to spot.

"Skills for Care & Development, the Sector Skills Council for people working in early years, children and young people's services, social work and social care for children and adults in the UK, have been looking at how mobile technology such as tablets and hand-held games consoles could be used in the workplace. The UK Commission for Employment and Skills co-invested in the project through the Employer Investment Fund, (EIF), which is seeing the development of 28 training resources that will be available to download free from iTunes with the first app going live on the store this month. Something is missing from my classroom lately and I am quite happy to have seen it disappear. It is the traditional line at the teacher's desk formed by students awaiting feedback on a recently completed piece of writing. What has replaced this is our use of Google Docs and Slides as a tool for the collaborative development of ideas from initial thinking and strategising through to final editing and refinement. It has introduced a new workflow to the class that both streamlines the process of providing feedback, allows for greater detail and transforms the process into one that is richly collaborative.
