Some cool science teachers at necc who have "flipped the classroom" -- they record their lectures and make them available on itunes to download. Then, they do "homework" in class w/ the teachers. Listening to the podcast of class is their assignment -- the homework is what they do in class. This flipped method had some people talking today in our workshop. So so cool! This makes so much sense -- take the one to many work delivery and make it the assignment -- take the work where you need many to many to help one another and have that in the classroom. Can you see class evolving? wow! This makes so much sense.

Did you know the Library provides podcasts of some of its presentations and online resources? Listen to book festival presentations, material on music and its impact on the brain and oral history interviews with African Americans who provide first-person accounts of the hardships of the slave plantations and of life during and after slavery. Download the audio recording and a transcript of the program to your iPod, other portable media player, or to your computer from the Library of Congress website. " I think that perhaps online learning is about to completely boom largely as a result of the growing pandemic and the need for isolation and ongoing learning. Curriki has things together for this and I'm going to take a look at this for our school.

Optical character recognition (OCR) software for the Apple iDevices that will scan any text, and then output it to text for e-mail, documents, or spreadsheets. Also includes text reading, which would make it very valuable for both students with visual disabilities and reading/decoding problems.

Science applications (Apps) for iPod Touch offer students and teachers excellent tools to help students spend more time learning science content in class and laboratory situations. Although many Science Apps are loaded with ads and other distracting information, I have found several that are free of ads.

Over 80 Apps for the iPod Touch sorted by their grade level, subject area, and type (resource, creative, game, etc.). Also includes a short description of the application, it's link in iTunes, and it's price.
