Mr Rowland's Physical Education Posterous! - I wouldn't say I was the best teacher in t... - 0 views

Example of a teacher posterous blog - instead of teaching them how to blog, just let them use their email!
  •
Doug Belshaw is encouraging his teachers to use posterous to communicate to students and parents. Literally, they send an e-mail to posterous and it creates a blog automatically for them. This is an example of a PE teacher. Now this is cool. DON'T teach teachers how to blog - use something they already know, email and just have them email it instead. Now how is that for a great idea!

Federation of American Scientists :: The National Center for Research in Advanced Infor... - 0 views

  •
New center for researching information and digital technologies and the impact on learning has been created.
  •
Comprehensive research on how advanced computer and communication technologies can improve all levels of learning has been funded. This National Center was created and signed into law on August 14, 2008 in the United States. I think that research is a great thing. I they will involve all educators in developing their primary questions. Research based best practices underlie all we do and we do need more. I hope, however, they don't get too hung up on the technology (i.e. wiki, blog) and focus on what technology lets us do.

Will textbooks go the way of typewriters? - 0 views

  •
For anyone who attended college before the era of e-mails and the Internet, the notion that bulky textbooks could someday become obsolete might seem ludicrous. Yet with a wealth of information on virtually any topic now readily accessible online, more people are starting to ponder if these hefty staples of education will remain relevant.

A good blog post concerning James Boyle and his talk where the 'central theme was the relationship between where we are today with open science and where international computer networks were in 1992. He likened making the case for open science today with that of people suggesting in 1992 that the networks would benefit from being made freely accessible, freely useable, and based on open standards'.

U Tech Tips » Blog Archive » Where are the comments? - 0 views

The conversation that has been going on around Twitter both here and here has lead to other e-mails and discussions around building networks and specifically how do you get people to comment on your blog? The problem is….you can't make people comment. What you can do is write compelling blog posts that make people want to leave comments. How do you do that….I'm not sure.

15 Awesome Tutorial Websites You Probably Don't Know About | Dumb Little Man - 0 views

  •
Great post sharing 15 tutorial websites, over half of which I'd never heard of. This is a gem of a post and again tells us why we need access to things we've never heard of and how teachers and IT departments need a little more access than students to check these things out first (i.e. conditional filtration.)

Amazing student project to create memories and artifacts. This is an excellent partnership between the New Sweden Historical Society, Stockholm Historical Society, Maine Swedish Colony, Nylander Museum, New Sweden School, and others. It is time for museums and schools to begin partnerships in this way. What meaningful, authentic work. Wow! From Earnie Easter via e-mail today.

Technology Integration Matrix - 0 views

shared by anonymous on 16 Apr 08 - Cached
  • The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed (i.e., reflective), authentic, and collaborative (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells as illustrated below.

What a resource. At each indicator there is a QT video detailing the project, learning design and outcomes. This will be a wonderful tool for future integration initiatives.
