Pinterest has changed my life! From the way I search, cook, decorate, network, and especially the way I teach! Essentially, Pinterest is an online bulletin board. You can collect and share blog posts, pictures, recipes, etc. Connecting with so many different teachers and sharing ideas and resources has been the single most beneficial social networking tool to me.

A video that defines a PLN and discusses the importance of them in an educational environment.

Cool resource! I didn't look into using videos as resources but I can see how this would have great value. This one starts out a little dramatic (especially with the music!) but is VERY informative! I also like how it uses other scholarly resources to validate the points of how using PLNs can be effective. Also, I appreciate the clear definition of PLNs

A pedagogy of abundance or a pedagogy to support human beings? (connectivism) - 0 views

  •
Several years after their pioneering connectivist MOOC (CCK08), Siemens and Downes moderated two additional MOOCs on PLEs (PLENK 2010) and Connectivism (CCK11). This article outlines the key connectivist activities underaken (aggregation, remixing, repurposing and feeding forward and participant reactions. I believe the title is about choosing between the "abundance" of a connectivist approach versus an alternate pedagogy that provides greater learner support and fosters greater social connection.

Learning and Knowing in Networks: Changing roles for Educator and Designers - 1 views

  •
Exploration of connectivism and it's connections to other learning theories. Includes the idea that connectivism may be a significantly different kind of learning theory than behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism, and that it might be more of an anthropological learning theory. (Interesting!) Also includes discussion of the role of an educator in an connectivist learning environment, including different metaphors for teaching.

Learning networks and connective knowledge - 0 views

This article explores personal learning environments in detail. It first explains the theory of cognitivism and its limitations and then goes into learning networks as an alternative to this theory. When describing learning networks it first details what a network is and then tells of some of the characteristics which are good for learning and limitations of learning networks. Characteristics included learning resting in a diversity of opinions, learning as a collection of specialized nodes, and decision-making in itself being a learning process.
