This article demonstrates some visual diagrams related to TPACK. These are funny and interesting due to dream worlds of teacher candidates.

This article is really easy to read and with its good visual demostrations. It also shows us that as all teachers independent from which course they are teaching they are in a way have to use technology integration into their classes. This an example from science teachers and mine is an example from mathematics teaching.

In the article, you can find beneficial explanation of advantages and limitations of flipped classrooms.

Thank you for this informative and easy-to-read article Ezgi. I agree with most of what the writer argues; however, the 2nd con about "trusting" the student made me feel a bit unease because as teachers and also human beings we have to trust others at least to a certain degree and I believe that teachers are a bit way too sceptical as to their students' credibility. I get the reasons behind this and totally agree yet still argue that we shouldn't count "trusting the student" as a con for flipped classrooms. After all, in a traditional school, the teacher still counts on the student when she sees a completed homework which might have been done by the student's father.

Thanks for your sharing Ezgi, I really like it :) In my opinion, 5th con is valuable to discuss because there are so many studies in the literature indicating that screen time has been considered as a main issue for physical inactivity among children and adolescences. Almost all parents complain about their children's long time usage of technological devices. Therefore, while planning a flipped classroom, this subject must be considered seriously.

As educators, the use of Web 2.0 tools is transforming our work, and more specifically the way we support students in the classroom. As schools bring more technology into their classrooms, teachers will in turn strive to put more technology in their students' hands. That is, if they are prepared to do so. Here are some Web 2.0 tool that can be easly adapted to education.

Azime thank you, the document you shared contains very good questions for in class discussion: are educators prepared to use web 2.0 tools? How can educators best plan to incorporate Web 2.0 Tools into their classroom? How can they best plan to ensure effective tech integration? How can they be sure that the tool remains a support piece to their instructional practice, rather than a replacement?

I've just found this paper about TPACK in special education, unfortunately I couldn't reach the full paper. so, I'm so curious about it.

In this article, there are some items mentioned which are getting trendy and which the teachers may want to keep up with.

This infographic summarizes the 4 key findings of a study with more than 600 K-12 teachers. Among the key findings are 3 barriers that are considered by the participants to have the potential to prevent them from using more technology in their classes. Two of the barriers mentioned, lack of technical support and training, are pretty common in the literature, but the third one was interesting to me. 33% of the participants argued that because they cannot figure out whether a student is on task or not while performing something on a technological device, they refrain from using it.

The article evaluates FATIH project from future mathematics teachers' perspective.

This presentation is the most effective ı have ever seen. And also last minutes of the presentaion, it gives important mesages. I again see that technology can change everything in education. In what way? for example as Mishra presented, you can do lecture in your class but it can be followed all around the world even if it is a lecture. You can spread your lecture through the world. If you are a little bit creative, you can develop your presentation or teaching/learning activitives and make them very effective. At that point technology usage is not only using computers or smart boards, it also helps gaining attention, makes your classroom activities more global. Mishra gives emphasis on effective usage of technology. An email can be used as a reminder or a storage area. So the final point is that teachers should be equipped for usaing technology in their classroom not only in sake of using it but also bringing up creative, collaborative, sharer generations.

These will have an influence on the future of tech in teacher ed as well.

This is a TPACK project example from Singapore.

The results of the current study show that teachers involved in Fatih Project were especially content with being able to make their lessons visually more appealing for their students. They were, however, not satisfied with the in-service training provided, especially in understanding ways to effectively integrate the technologies into their teaching, and the limitations put upon Internet access from the tablets. The impacts of these tools on their teaching practices were very minimal.

You probably came across the famous quote by Dr. Ray Clifford saying "Technology will not replace teachers, but teachers who do not use technology will be replaced." Well, that might change sooner than we had anticipated. Some companies have been working very hard for several years to manufacture real-time translation devices like the one mentioned in the article attached. Although most of the attempts are too immature to be taken seriously, I think we will have devices in the next decade that are able to translate satisfactorily across languages. Whether this will have a tangible impact on language teaching professionals is yet to be seen.
