It is my opinion that merlot is part of the path that will be required for future educators being both a place for portfolio placement and collaboration.

Freeology - Free Printable Graphic Organizers - 0 views

This is an evolving site with high quality tools for both the technologically savvy and the digital immigrant. This is not an exhaustive site, nor one where you will find everything you need - but the graphic organizer section is well done and contains the majority of a classroom teacher's needs. This is definitely a site to keep an eye on.

BrainFlips | Study flashcards - 0 views

This site allows you to create flashcards that can include both audio and pictures. The format is basic but flexible. The one thing you have to be aware of is the save function. You have to save cards as you go along in order to view them. The one downside is moving between the preview screen and the edit screen. There is no embedded button to return to the working area you have to use the back navigation button. But since this site is still in Beta that may change.

YouTube - how to - 0 views

In line with the best practices of a multimedia presentation, YouTube has thousands of how to videos that can be embedded into power points. In fact there are several videos on how to embed into powerpoint. I have used these videos numerous times in my general ed classes and in my tech classes for both adults and children. With the tech classes the students watch the video through once, then reproduce the activity while watching it through again. It is rare that I have to reteach when they do this.

Pete's Power Point Station - A Collection of FREE Presentations in PowerPoint format fo... - 0 views

This is by far one of the best powerpoint oriented portals on the web. The nice thing is that you can save a useful ppt on your computer without licensing issues. The drawback is that there are so many options and links that just dropping in for a fast pick-up of a presentation is difficult. Additional links on the site go to educational clipart and interactive activities. Just a great site.

YouTube - Shift Happens Original - 0 views

This is video created to provide an insight into the future of education, technology and communication worldwide. The comparisons between the education in the U.S., India, and China are very interesting. I have played this selection over the last few years at almost every workshop I've hosted. The presentation does not fit into Mayer's (2008) efficient multimedia formats, but the material does make an impact. This is especially good to shake up those folks who espouse that technology is just a fad.
