Showbeyond http://www.showbeyond.com Showbeyond is a resource that I came across while I was teaching my journalism students how to create a photo essay. Even though I just randomly stumbled across this resource it has proven to be a wonderfully simple to use slide cast program. Slide casts are an online multimedia format that combines and synchronizes slideshows with podcasts. I have found this format perfect for online story telling as well as online presentations. I think Showbeyond is a resource more fit for middle and high school students and educators. Showbeyond allows students and educators to design and create multimedia presentations easily and quickly. Showbeyond is a resource that lets you select and manipulate photos and text to create a visual presentation which you can add podcasts, music, and videos to. I chose Showbeyond because I don't think you can find a more accessible multimedia to create simple presentations on. I say simple because Showbeyond is not capable of some the more advanced features such as animation and timed slides like PowerPoint and MovieMaker are capable of. However, I do use Showbeyond in my classroom often and my students really enjoy the products that they can create.

Assignment, Module 3 - Yodio.com is a free, web-based recording service where users can record from any microphone or cell phone to create a visual and audio podcast experience.  Users can synchronize their voice commentaries with photos to create media presentations and responses.  They can be shared, streamed through the Internet, or embedded in other websites and blogs.  In essence, it is an audio postcard.  Another advantage the site offers for classroom presentations is it allows you to toggle back and forth to full-screen mode.  One interesting note:  the name, Yodio, is derived from YOur auDIO.

Tablets and iPads - 0 views

This Web site includes a collection of resources (articles, blogs, podcasts, and presentations) related to the significance of tablets and iPads in K-12 and higher education institutions. One article in particular discusses seven things that users need to know in using iPad apps in education (http://net.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/ELI7069.pdf). The scenario provided in the article makes for a learner centered approach to learning, as the iPad is simply used to enhance student's natural learning in identifying stars and constellations. Additionally, the active engagement required focuses on cognitive activity.

Authentic Assessment - 1 views

The link above is a great website that provides an abundance of information on creating authentic assessments for multimedia projects. The website provides links for creating rubrics on all types of multimedia projects. One can find a rubric for group projects, wikis, blogs, PowerPoints and podcasts, and PowerPoint's. One can use the rubrics to help determine various aspects in creating a multimedia project. The main page contains a quick link section to help the user easily find the needed links. Rubrics are a great way for the learner to understand the requirements of a project. A rubric falls under generative learning. Many times when a project is assigned, the student has a difficult time determining what exactly should be completed to meet all the requirements. Generative learning helps the learner make sense of the material and supports an engaging learning environment. By using a rubric on an assessment activity, the instructor ensures that the participants are actively engaged by helping them organizer the expectations and criteria.

Cognitive tools.-Emerging perspectives on learning, teaching and technology - 2 views

  •
The topic of my multimedia Artifacts project is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. Robertson, et.al (2010) article on cognitive tools-emerging perspectives on learning and teaching, was definitively learner-centered approach to learning. Various multimedia artifacts such as PowerPoint Presentations, Notebook Online discussions, Teleconferences, Video streaming and Podcasting (LearnOutLoud.com) allow students to retrieve and identify information through learning situations that required the seeking of information. Information was presented in a meaningful and appropriate representation that supported the participants by allowing them to use technology tools to establish relationships among information by structuring or restructuring information and manipulating the information (p.1). Mayer's (2008) dual coding /dual channels is where participate take in information as visual (through the eyes) and the verbal channel which deals with processing sound,( spoken text ). The tools in the above paragraph does generate visual and verbal channel for students. Robertson, B., Elliot, L., & Robinson, D. (2007). Cognitive tools.-Emerging perspectives on learning, teaching and technology. Retrieved June 13, 2010, from http://projects.coe.uga.edu/epltt/index.php?title=Cognitive_Tools

This site allows you to easy create 30 sec clips from uploaded images and record from your cell phone. I like this site because it allows people to create audio even if they do not have access to audio equipment for their computers. The short clips can easily be shared among classmates.

This website allows you to upload photos and record narration. A great way to explain a vision by more than just a picture but telling exactly how you recall it. This can be used as a storyboard for my participants of my workshop in their pre-training activity.
